1. Analysis of Dipole and Patch Antennas in Cylindrical Structures
Abstract : This thesis deals with the analysis of dipoles, patches, and aperture coupled patches located in an infinitely long cylindrical structure with arbitrary cross-section. The analysis exploits the two-dimensional nature of the structure by expanding all fields and currents in spatial harmonics along the cylinder axis, and solving the subsequent spectral two-dimensional problems by the moment method. 2. Integrated Antennas : Monolithic and Hybrid Approaches
Abstract : This thesis considers integration of antennas and active electronics manufactured on the same substrate. The main topic is on-chip antennas for commercial silicon processes, but hybrid integration using printed circuit board technology is also addressed. READ MORE

3. Integrated Communications and Thermal Management Systems for Microsystem-based Spacecraft : A Multifunctional Microsystem Approach
Abstract : This thesis explores the potential of multifunctional silicon-based microsystems for advanced integrated nanospacecraft (AIN). Especially, multifunctional microsystems with the coexistant functions of communications and thermal management implemented in multilayer silicon stacks are approached with systems study. READ MORE

4. Active and Passive Unequally Spaced Reflect-Arrays and Elements of RF Integration Techniques
Abstract : Using an array synthesis tool based on a modified differential evolution algorithm, it is shown that the position-phase synthesis exhibits improved pattern characteristics compared to both the phase only and position only synthesis of uniform amplitude antenna arrays. The design of an unequally spaced planar reflect-array and an active power combining reflect-array are presented. READ MORE

5. Antenna System Design for 5G and Beyond – A Modal Approach
Abstract : Antennas are one of the key components that empower a new generation of wireless technologies, such as 5G and new radar systems. It has been shown that antenna design strategies based on modal theories represent a powerful systematic approach to design practical antenna systems with high performance. READ MORE
