  1. 1. Restraint Effects in Concrete Bridges : A Study of Cracking due to Thermal Actions and Shrinkage in Portal Frame Bridges

    Author : Erik Gottsäter; Avdelningen för Konstruktionsteknik; []
    Keywords : TEKNIK OCH TEKNOLOGIER; ENGINEERING AND TECHNOLOGY; Tvång; Betong; Uppsprickning; Temperaturlast; Plattrambro; FE-analys; Restraint; Concrete; Cracking; Thermal action; Portal frame bridge; FE-analysis;

    Abstract : Thermal actions and shrinkage cause volume changes in concrete structures. In structures which are restrained from movements, the restraint effects can cause cracking. However, when cracking occurs, the structure can deform to some extent, which reduces the restraint stresses and thus also the crack widths. READ MORE

  2. 2. Advanced Optical Diagnostics in Particle Combustion for Biomass and Metal as Alternative Fuels

    Author : Shen Li; Förbränningsfysik; []
    Keywords : TEKNIK OCH TEKNOLOGIER; ENGINEERING AND TECHNOLOGY; Optical diagnostics; Quantitative measurement; Iron powder; Biomass; High-speed imaging; Digital holography; 3D reconstruction; SEM; Fysicumarkivet A:2022:Li;

    Abstract : The energy sector is in urgent need for carbon-free strategies considering environmental pollutions and climate change impact. Two kinds of solid fuels, biomass and metal particles have been studied in this thesis aiming at CO2 emission reduction or zero carbon emission. READ MORE

  3. 3. Sputter Deposition, Mechanical Properties, and Thermal Stability of Nitride Based Superlattices

    Author : Carolina Engström; Helmut Holleck; Linköpings universitet; []
    Keywords : NATURVETENSKAP; NATURAL SCIENCES; TEKNIK OCH TEKNOLOGIER; ENGINEERING AND TECHNOLOGY;

    Abstract : Investigations concerning deposition, mechanical properties and thermal stability of nitride-based superlattice films have been performed. X-ray diffraction and transmission electron microscopy techniques were adopted for microstructural characterization, while nanoindentation hardness and abrasive wear resistance measurements were utilized for evaluation of mechanical properties. 4. 4. Long-term Voltage Stability in Power Systems - Alleviating the Impact of Generator Current Limiters

    Author : Stefan Johansson; Chalmers tekniska högskola; []
    Keywords : TEKNIK OCH TEKNOLOGIER; ENGINEERING AND TECHNOLOGY; rotor thermal overloading; dynamic load modelling; voltage stability; field current limiter; active power rescheduling; overexcitation limiter; armature current limiter; long-term power system dynamic stability;

    Abstract : The main issues in this dissertation are the behaviour of current limiters protecting synchronous generators, and the interactions that occur with other components in the power system during a voltage instability. The importance of these limiters for the voltage stability is shown both in the analysis of small models and in the simulations of larger networks. READ MORE

  5. 5. On the Machinability of Ductile and Strain Hardening Materials - Models and Methods for Analyzing Machinability

    Author : Fredrik Schultheiss; Industriell Produktion; []
    Keywords : TEKNIK OCH TEKNOLOGIER; ENGINEERING AND TECHNOLOGY; Alloy 718; Ti6Al4V; Duplex stainless steel; Machinability; Minimum chip thickness; Contact condition; Surface topography; Tool wear; Part cost; Sustainable machining; Polar diagram.;

    Abstract : As quality and performance demands on today’s products increases, more and more advanced materials are being used during modern production. The problem is however that this in turn place new demands on the machining processes utilized. READ MORE
