  1. 21. Small-molecule layers for devices -Evaporation growth and characterization of thin films

    Author : Måns Andreasson; Chalmers tekniska högskola; []
    Keywords : TEKNIK OCH TEKNOLOGIER; ENGINEERING AND TECHNOLOGY; TEKNIK OCH TEKNOLOGIER; ENGINEERING AND TECHNOLOGY; PTCDA; molecular semiconductors; OLED; evaporation deposition; CuPc;

    Abstract : Small-molecule layers for devices- Evaporation growth and characterization of thin filmsMåns AndreassonApplied Semiconductor PhysicsDepartment of Microtechnology and NanoscienceChalmers University of TechnologyAbstractOrganic semiconductors constitute a relatively recent group of materials available for the electronic device designer. Substantially cheaper production technologies and integration with plastic materials are anticipated. READ MORE

  2. 22. Chemical Engineering of Small Affinity Proteins

    Author : Joel Lindgren; Amelie Eriksson Karlström; Lars Baltzer; KTH; []
    Keywords : NATURVETENSKAP; NATURAL SCIENCES; Affibody molecules; albumin binding domain; ligation; protein synthesis; solid phase peptide synthesis; Bioteknologi; Biotechnology;

    Abstract : Small robust affinity proteins have shown great potential for use in therapy, in vivo diagnostics, and various biotechnological applications. However, the affinity proteins often need to be modified or functionalized to be successful in many of these applications. READ MORE

  3. 23. Lignin Conversion to Value-Added Small-Molecule Chemicals : Towards Integrated Forest Biorefineries

    Author : Omar Y. Abdelaziz; Avdelningen för kemiteknik; []
    Keywords : TEKNIK OCH TEKNOLOGIER; ENGINEERING AND TECHNOLOGY; aromatic monomers; biorefinery; catalysis; kraft lignin; lignin depolymerization; lignin valorization; microbial conversion; renewable chemicals; techno-economic analysis;

    Abstract : Lignin is the most abundant aromatic biopolymer on Earth and has significant potential as a feedstock for industrial use. Due to its intrinsic heterogeneity and recalcitrance, lignin has been regarded as a low-value side-product in the pulp and paper industry and in second-generation biorefineries. READ MORE

  4. 24. Capillary electrophoresis mass spectrometry applied to structural proteomics and small molecule analysis

    Author : Jordan Aerts; Erik T. Jansson; Per E. Andrén; Petr Man; Uppsala universitet; []
    Keywords : NATURVETENSKAP; NATURAL SCIENCES; Capillary Electrophoresis Mass Spectrometry; Hydrogen Deuterium Exchange Mass Spectrometry; Enantioselective Separations; Drugs of Abuse; Analytical Chemistry; Analytisk kemi; Analytisk farmaceutisk kemi; Analytical Pharmaceutical Chemistry; Kemi med inriktning mot analytisk kemi; Chemistry with specialization in Analytical Chemistry; Biology with specialization in Structural Biology; Biologi med inriktning mot strukturbiologi;

    Abstract : Capillary electrophoresis with mass spectrometric (CE–MS) detection offers a separation method without equal in terms of flexibility, utility, and cost efficiency. Here we demonstrate precisely this through the application of several laboratory-built CE–MS instruments for the separation of brain metabolites in non-primates, enantioselective separations of synthetic anesthetic metabolites in fractionated pony urine, application in structural proteomics workflows, and identification of exogenous alkaloid biotransformationproducts in human cerebrospinal fluid (CSF). 5. 25. Toxicity and biological impact of metal and metal oxide nanoparticles : Focus on the vascular toxicity of ultra-small titanium dioxide nanoparticles

    Author : Narges Bayat; Susana Cristobal; Janeck James Scott-Fordsmand; Stockholms universitet; []
    Keywords : NATURVETENSKAP; NATURAL SCIENCES; Nanoparticles; Nanotoxicology; Ultra-small nanoparticles; Biochemistry; biokemi;

    Abstract : The application of nanoparticles (NPs) in different technologies has led to tremendous advancement in those fields.  Moreover, there is growing interest in application of ultra-small NPs (USNPs) at 1-3 nm due to their distinct molecule like features. Parallel to these promises, there is a growing concern regarding their safety. READ MORE
