  1. 1. Infrared spectroscopic studies : from small molecules to large

    Author : Nadejda Eremina; Andreas Barth; Silvia Maria Doglia; Stockholms universitet; []
    Keywords : NATURVETENSKAP; NATURAL SCIENCES; Infrared spectroscopy; transcription factors; DNA; creatine kinase; CaATPase; water; ligand binding; biofarmaci; Biopharmaceutics;

    Abstract : Infrared light (IR) was first discovered by Friedrich Wilhelm Herschel in 1800. However, until 1940’s, molecular IR studies involved only water and small organic molecules, because of the long measurement times. READ MORE

  2. 2. Excitations in small molecules and polyenes : CO and (CH)x

    Author : Nestor Correia; Uppsala universitet; []
    Keywords : NATURAL SCIENCES; NATURVETENSKAP;

  3. 3. Synchrotron Radiation Studies of Free and Adsorbed Molecules

    Author : Zhuo Bao; Maria Novella Piancastelli; Svante Svensson; Denis Ceolin; Edwin Kukk; Uppsala universitet; []
    Keywords : Physics; Synchrotron radiation; Auger electron spectroscopy; one-step model; Post Collision Interaction PCI ; theoretical modeling; molecules; adsorbates; UPS; XPS; XAS; NEXAFS; Fysik;

    Abstract : This thesis contains two parts. The first part concerns the research work on free molecules using synchrotron-radiation-related techniques. Auger electron spectra of two free open-shell molecules, O2 and NO, were studied experimentally and theoretically. READ MORE

  4. 4. Investigating polymorphism in small molecules using three-dimensional electron diffraction

    Author : Molly Lightowler; Xiaodong Zou; Hosea M. Nelson; Stockholms universitet; []
    Keywords : NATURVETENSKAP; NATURAL SCIENCES; NATURVETENSKAP; NATURAL SCIENCES; NATURVETENSKAP; NATURAL SCIENCES; 3D electron diffraction; structure determination; polymorphism; crystallisation; phase identification; small molecule; oorganisk kemi; Inorganic Chemistry;

    Abstract : For scientific, regulatory and intellectual property reasons, the discovery and characterisation of polymorphic systems is an integral aspect of the development process of any solid-formulated drug product. Yet, these studies are often hindered by crystal quality and size, poor yields and the generation of mixtures of phases. READ MORE

  5. 5. Studies of mutant p53-targeting small molecules

    Author : Nicole Zache; Karolinska Institutet; Karolinska Institutet; []
    Keywords : ;

    Abstract : Multiple cellular stresses, such as DNA damage, oncogene activation, hypoxia, and telomere erosion induce p53 protein levels leading to an array of biological responses, including cell cycle arrest and apoptosis. p53 exerts its function mainly through transcriptional regulation of specific target genes, but is also able to induce transcriptional-independent apoptosis.
