21. Bifunctionalization of Small Organic Molecules Based on Fluorine Incorporation
Abstract : The dissertation work that is summarized in this thesis describes novel syntheses of organofluorine compounds with a broad coverage of different fluorine-containing motifs.Chapter 2.1 covers works on the exploration of new trifluoromethylthiolating reactions of diazocarbonyl compounds. 23. Selective induction of apoptosis in tumors by small molecules reactivating p53
Abstract : Lesions in the p53 pathway that inactivate p53 tumor suppression function occur with extremely high frequency in cancer, targeting almost all tumors regardless of patient age or tumor type. This study is aimed at developing approaches for the selective elimination of tumors carrying defects in the p53 pathway, namely protection of p53 from degradation by its own destructor HDM2 in wild type p53-carrying tumors and refolding of p53 by small molecules in mutant p53-containing tumors. 24. Quantum transport in photoswitching molecules : An investigation based on ab initio calculations and Non Equilibrium Green Function theory
Abstract : Molecular electronics is envisioned as a possible next step in device miniaturization. It is usually taken to mean the design and manufacturing of electronic devices and applications where organic molecules work as the fundamental functioning unit. READ MORE

25. Metal Cluster Reactivity. Adsorption of small molecules in biomolecular collisions
Abstract : Metal clusters can be characterized as the tiniest possible metal particles, containing only an easily counted number of atoms. In this work, reactions between metal clusters and diatomic molecules have been investigated. We have constructed an experimental set-up to produce and detect clusters, and to investigate their chemical reactivity. READ MORE
