  1. 11. Resonant multi-photon ionisation studies of high-energy states in small molecules

    Author : Marica Sjödin; Lars-Erik Berg; Arne Rosén; KTH; []
    Keywords : NATURVETENSKAP; NATURAL SCIENCES; Physics; Fysik;

    Abstract : This thesis describes separate studies of high-energy Rydberg and ion-pair states in small molecules using resonant multi-photon ionisation spectroscopy. * OODR/REMPI study of ungerade Rydberg states in O2 The energy region between 75000 and 99900 cm-1 of O2 has been studied using optical-optical double resonance (OODR) with resonance enhanced multi-photon ionisation (REMPI). 2. 12. Effects of Protons and Small Alcohols on the Oxygen-Evolving Complex of Photosystem II

    Author : Paulina Geijer; Biokemi och Strukturbiologi; []
    Keywords : NATURVETENSKAP; NATURAL SCIENCES; EPR; pH; methanol; S3; S2; S0; YZ; Mn cluster; Oxygen-evolving complex; S-states; Biochemistry; Metabolism; Biokemi; metabolism;

    Abstract : Higher plants and algae use oxygenic photosynthesis to convert solar energy to reducing equivalents and chemical energy. The ultimate electron donor to oxygenic photosynthesis is water. Oxidation of water to oxygen occurs in the oxygen-evolving complex (OEC) in Photosystem II (PSII). The OEC is composed of four Mn atoms, Ca2+ and Cl-. READ MORE

  3. 13. Transport properties of Bi2Se3 Topological Insulator Nanoribbon-Superconductor hybrid junctions

    Author : Ananthu Pullukattuthara Surendran; Chalmers tekniska högskola; []
    Keywords : NATURVETENSKAP; NATURAL SCIENCES; Bismuth selenide; surface states; Topological insulator; ac susceptibility; Josephson junctions; superconductivity; SQUID; andreev bound states;

    Abstract : In recent years, topological superconductivity and Majorana zero-energy modes have attracted vast interest due to their potential for topologically protected quantum information processing. Hybrid devices involving a conventional s-wave superconductor (S) in proximity to a 3D Topological Insulator (TI) are expected to provide a platform for emulating and studying these phenomena. 4. 14. Paramagnetic states of diiron carboxylate proteins

    Author : Nina Voevodskaya; Astrid Gräslund; Peter Brzezinski; Howard Dalton; Stockholms universitet; []
    Keywords : NATURVETENSKAP; NATURAL SCIENCES; electron paramagnetic resonance; diiron carboxilate proteins; ribonucleotide reductase; alternative oxidase; Biophysics; Biofysik;

    Abstract : Diiron carboxylate proteins constitute an important class of metall-containing enzymes. These proteins perform a multitude of reactions in biological systems that normally involve activation of molecular oxygen at the diiron site. READ MORE

  5. 15. Energy Use, Efficiency Gains and Emission Abatement in Transitional Industrialised Economies: Poland and the Baltic States

    Author : Jürgen Salay; Miljö- och energisystem; []
    Keywords : TEKNIK OCH TEKNOLOGIER; ENGINEERING AND TECHNOLOGY; implementation; sustainable energy; renewable energy; electricity production; power industry; Baltic states; Poland; transition; sulphur dioxide; air pollution; energy efficiency; Energy; energy use; Environmental technology; pollution control; Miljöteknik; kontroll av utsläpp; Energy research; Energiforskning;

    Abstract : This thesis is a study of how energy use and air pollution in Poland, Estonia, Latvia and Lithuania have been affected by the economic transition after 1989. It consists of six articles, which examine three different aspects of these changes. READ MORE
