21. Studying the Interplay of Immigration and Welfare States
Abstract : A comparative study of net transfers for different immigrant groups: Evidence from GermanyThis paper analyzes determinants of net transfers for immigrants living in Germany in 2002, coming from five different countries. Net transfers refer to the net amount of costs and tax payments in the public budget account. READ MORE

22. Ultrafast Photo-induced Reaction Dynamics of Small Molecules
Abstract : The main focus of this thesis is the investigation of the dissociation dynamics of aryl halides using femtosecond pump-probe spectroscopy. In the monohalogenated aryl halides, iodo-, bromo- and chlorobenzene, the rate of dissociation following excitation at 266 nm in the gas phase increased with increasing mass of the halogen atom. 23. Charging effects in small capacitance Josephson junction circuits
Abstract : This thesis describes fabrication, measurements and analysisof two different Josephson junction circuits; the Cooper pairtransistor (CPT) and the one dimensional Josephson junctionarray (JJA). All experiments are conducted in a dilutionrefrigerator with a base temperature of 15{30 mK. READ MORE

24. Gaps, Traps and Lattices - Correlations in Small Quantum Systems
Abstract : This dissertation investigates properties of two-dimensional many-body systems. Studies are performed using the Spin-Density Functional Theory with the Local Spin-Density Approximation, and numerical exact diagonalization. READ MORE

25. On the formation of small molecules by radiative association
Abstract : This thesis is devoted to the theoretical investigation of radiative association, which is one of the processes contributing to formation of molecules in the interstellar medium. The formation of the CN, SiN, SiP and CO molecules through radiative association of the corresponding atoms in their ground electronic states is studied by the means of classical and quantum dynamical calculations.
