  1. 1. Bayesian Modeling of Conditional Densities

    Author : Feng Li; Mattias Villani; Sylvia Frühwirth-Schnatter; Stockholms universitet; []
    Keywords : NATURVETENSKAP; NATURAL SCIENCES; Bayesian inference; Density estimation; smooth mixtures; surface regression; copulas; Markov chain Monte Carlo; Statistics; statistik;

    Abstract : This thesis develops models and associated Bayesian inference methods for flexible univariate and multivariate conditional density estimation. The models are flexible in the sense that they can capture widely differing shapes of the data. The estimation methods are specifically designed to achieve flexibility while still avoiding overfitting. READ MORE

  2. 2. Nonazeotropic mixtures as working fluids in large heat pumps - Heat transfer in a falling film evaporator and system simulations

    Author : Karin Munch; Chalmers tekniska högskola; []
    Keywords : TEKNIK OCH TEKNOLOGIER; ENGINEERING AND TECHNOLOGY;

    Abstract : The thesis is divided into two main parts, the first onedealing with heat transfer in the evaporator and the secondone dealing with simulations of the whole heat pump cyclewith nonazeotropic mixtures. One of the aims with the heat transfer studies was to investigate if the additional mass transfer resistance, introduced when mixtures are used, can be reduced in a thin falling film with high turbulence compared with corresponding one for a horizontal tube. 3. 3. Novel oil resistant cellulosic materials

    Author : Christian Aulin; Lars Wågberg; Derek Gray; KTH; []
    Keywords : TEKNIK OCH TEKNOLOGIER; ENGINEERING AND TECHNOLOGY; oleophobic; MFC; cellulose; oil resistant; contact angle; XPS; SEM; Cellulose and paper engineering; Cellulosa- och pappersteknik;

    Abstract : The aim of this study has been to prepare and characterise oil resistant cellulosic materials, ranging from model surfaces to papers and aerogels. The cellulosic materials were made oil resistant by chemical and topographic modifications, based on surface energy, surface roughness and barrier approaches. READ MORE

  4. 4. Preparation, characterisation and wetting of fluorinated cellulose surfaces

    Author : Christian Aulin; Lars Wågberg; Sigbritt Karlsson; KTH; []
    Keywords : TEKNIK OCH TEKNOLOGIER; ENGINEERING AND TECHNOLOGY; Cellulose and paper engineering; Cellulosa- och pappersteknik;

    Abstract : This thesis deals with the wetting by oil mixtures of two different model cellulose surfaces. The surfaces studied were a regenerated cellulose (RG) surface prepared by spin-coating, and a film consisting of polyelectrolyte multilayers (PEM) of Poly(ethyleneimine) (PEI) and a carboxymethylated Microfibrillated Cellulose (MFC). 5. 5. Starch stabilized Pickering emulsions : Colloidal starch particles and their effects on emulsion properties

    Author : Hisfazilah Saari; Avdelningen för livsmedel och läkemedel; []
    Keywords : Starch granules; Pickering emulsions; colloidal particles; sedimentation; acid hydrolysis; cold gelatinization; dissolution; non-solvent precipitation; nanoparticles;

    Abstract : Particles can be used to stabilize multi-phase systems known as Pickering emulsions. The aim of this thesis was to investigate how starch particles affect emulsion properties. Starch granules were used individually as well as in binary mixtures. READ MORE
