21. The effects of crayfish on interactions in freshwater benthic communities
Abstract : This thesis examines how freshwater crayfish affect community interactions in benthic food webs. I have mainly studied the influence of the introduced signal crayfish (Pacifastacus leniusculus) on littoral communities, but also the influence of the native noble crayfish (Astacus astacus). 22. Functional Morphology of Gastropods and Bivalves
Abstract : Functional morphology analyzes the relationships between form and function in organisms. However, a comprehensive analysis of any organic structure requires an integrated approach to morphology. For this purpose constructional morphology was developed, where function, phylogeny and construction together explain form. READ MORE

23. The large sialoglycoprotein of human lymphocytes
Abstract : L-LSGP is an abundant cell surface glycoprotein (a.m.w. intact 115—125 kdalton, desialylated 140—160 kdalton) restricted to lymphocytes in the hemopoietic system. READ MORE

24. Evaluation of locally available feed resources for striped catfish (Pangasianodon hypophthalmus)
Abstract : This thesis investigated and compared inputs and outputs, economic factors and current feed use in small-scale farming systems producing striped catfish (Pangasianodon hypophthalmus) in the Mekong Delta. The nutrient content of locally available natural feed resources for striped catfish was determined and growth performance, feed utilisation and body indices were analysed in pond-cultured striped catfish fed diets where fish meal protein was replaced with protein from local feed resources. 25. Signal integration between notch and hypoxia : insights into development and disease
Abstract : Oxygen is essentially required for aerobic metabolism in most eukaryotic organisms. Therefore, it is striking that a number of tissues develop, and are maintained at low oxygen (hypoxic) conditions in the body. For instance, the human embryo is located in a hypoxic environment. READ MORE
