  1. 11. Precipitation phase determination in cold region conceptual models - analysis and method development

    Author : James Feiccabrino; Avdelningen för Teknisk vattenresurslära; []
    Keywords : NATURVETENSKAP; NATURAL SCIENCES; Snow Models; Precipitation Phase Uncertainty; ; Snow; Conceptual Model; Cold Regions;

    Abstract : Precipitation phase uncertainty is a known source of error in conceptual models used for many hydrological, climatological, and environmental applications. These conceptual models often use the simple approach of calibrating an air temperature threshold (TRS) over a large area irrespective of physiographic characteristics such as distance to the ocean and topographic relief. 2. 12. Traffic-related pollutants in urban snow : Concentrations, size fractionation, and release with snowmelt

    Author : Arya Vijayan; Maria Viklander; Helene Österlund; Göran Blomqvist; Luleå tekniska universitet; []
    Keywords : TEKNIK OCH TEKNOLOGIER; ENGINEERING AND TECHNOLOGY; Urban snow; Traffic pollution; Suspended solids; Metals; PAHs; Tire and Road wear Particles T RWPs ; Microplastics MPs ; Size fractionation; VA-teknik; Urban Water Engineering; Centrumbildning - Centrum för dagvattenhantering DRIZZLE ; Centre - Centre for Stormwater Management DRIZZLE ;

    Abstract : In urban areas with seasonal snow, traffic-related pollutants such as solid particles, metals, chloride, organic pollutants, and microplastics (MPs) can be temporarily stored in snowbanks along roads and streets. When the snow melts, it releases the accumulated pollutants and the resulting snowmelt with diverse pollutants may partly infiltrate into the ground, or enter storm sewers and eventually be discharged into, and impact on, the receiving waters. 3. 13. The Torneträsk System - A basis for predicting future subarctic ecosystems

    Author : Didac Pascual; BECC: Biodiversity and Ecosystem services in a Changing Climate; []
    Keywords : NATURVETENSKAP; NATURAL SCIENCES; climate change; carbon fluxes; ecosystem change; climate projections; rain on snow; modelling; impacts; snow; permafrost; winter warming events;

    Abstract : Arctic and subarctic areas have experienced a rapid warming and substantial increases in precipitation in recent decades. The frequency and intensity of some extreme events, such as fires, winter warming events, extreme rainfall, and droughts, has also increased. READ MORE

  5. 15. Snow removal routing problems : theory and applications

    Author : Gholamreza Razmara; Oli Madsen; Linköpings universitet; []
    Keywords : NATURVETENSKAP; NATURAL SCIENCES; MATHEMATICS; MATEMATIK;

    Abstract : The focus of this dissertation is on constructing optimization models and developing solution methods for Snow Removal Routing Problems with Time V\lindows. Two cases, after and during snowfall, are studied. READ MORE
