  1. 6. Late Holocene humidity variability in central Sweden

    Author : Sofia Andersson; Stefan Wastegård; Gunhild Rosqvist; Kristian Schoning; Frank Chambers; Stockholms universitet; []
    Keywords : NATURVETENSKAP; NATURAL SCIENCES; humidity change; stable isotopes; Chara spp; Pisidium spp; testate amoebae assemblages; humification; C N ratio; late Holocene; central Sweden; Quaternary geology; Kvartärgeologi; kvartärgeologi; Quarternary Geology;

    Abstract : The aim of this thesis was to reconstruct humidity variability in central Sweden during the late Holocene. A multi-proxy approach was used to infer humidity changes as recorded in a lake and a mire. Age-models were constructed based on radiocarbon dating and the Askja-1875 tephra. READ MORE

  2. 7. Controlling Polylactide Degradation through Stereocomplexation and Lactic Acid Based Additives

    Author : Sofia Regnell Andersson; Minna Hakkarainen; Ann-Christine Albertsson; Marek Kowalczuk; KTH; []
    Keywords : NATURVETENSKAP; NATURAL SCIENCES; Polylactide; stereocomplex; plasticizer; degradation; degradation products; ESI-MS;

    Abstract : The successful use of degradable materials in new applications depends on our ability to control the degradation process. A number of aspects need to be evaluated including degradation rate, the onset of degradation and the nature, formation and release of degradation products. READ MORE

  3. 8. Tuning the polylactide hydrolysis rate without introducing new migrants

    Author : Sofia Regnell Andersson; Minna Hakkarainen; Karin Jacobson; Ulrika Edlund; KTH; []
    Keywords : NATURVETENSKAP; NATURAL SCIENCES; NATURVETENSKAP; NATURAL SCIENCES; polylactide; sterocomplex; plasticizer; degradation; degradation products; ESI-MS; Biochemistry; Biokemi; Polymer chemistry; Polymerkemi;

    Abstract : The possibility to control and tune the hydrolytic degradation rate of polylactide without introducing any new degradation products was investigated by subjecting polylactide with cyclic or linear oligolactic acid additives, and a stereocomplex between the L- and D-enantiomers of polylactide to hydrolytic degradation at 37 and 60 °C for up to 39 weeks. The degradation was monitored by measuring mass loss, molar mass changes, water uptake, changes of surface structure, crystallinity and thermal properties. READ MORE

  4. 9. Mechanisms for TGF-β-Mediated Regulation of the Actin Filament System and Apoptosis

    Author : Sofia Edlund; Pontus Aspenström; Maréne Landström; Tommy Andersson; Uppsala universitet; []
    Keywords : NATURVETENSKAP; NATURAL SCIENCES; Cell and molecular biology; TGF-beta; cytoskeleton; GTPases; mitogen-activated protein kinase kinase 3; TGF-beta-activated kinase 1; Apoptosis; Smad7; beta-catenin; p38 MAPK; Cell- och molekylärbiologi; Cell and molecular biology; Cell- och molekylärbiologi; molekylär cellbiologi; Molecular Cellbiology;

    Abstract : Transforming growth factor-β (TGF-β) is a member of a large superfamily of cytokines which participate in many different types of cellular processes, such as growth inhibition, cell migration, differentiation, cell adhesion, wound healing and immunosuppression. Alterations of TGF-β superfamily signalling results in several different disorders, including bone disease, vascular disease and cancer. READ MORE

  5. 10. Knowledge in VET curricula and power in society and labour market : Policy and practice: demands-based and employer-driven Swedish higher vocational education

    Author : Johanna Köpsén; Per Andersson; Sofia Nyström; Leesa Wheelahan; Linköpings universitet; []
    Keywords : SAMHÄLLSVETENSKAP; SOCIAL SCIENCES; Vocational education and training; Knowledge; Curriculum; Education policy; Yrkesutbildning; Kunskap; Läroplan; Utbildningspolitik;

    Abstract : This dissertation presents a study of knowledge in vocational education and training (VET), the circumstances for its selection and transmission and how these circumstances are shaped by both national policy and local organisation.The study is set within the Swedish state-funded post-secondary VET system called Higher Vocational Education (HVE) and it entails investigations into both national policy and local practice in programme provision.
