  1. 6. Solar Colletors Combined with Ground-Source Heat Pumps in Dwellings - Analyses of System Performance

    Author : Elisabeth Kjellsson; Avdelningen för Byggnadsfysik; []
    Keywords : TEKNIK OCH TEKNOLOGIER; ENGINEERING AND TECHNOLOGY; heating in dwellings; TRNSYS simulations; solar collectors; ground-source heat pumps; ground heat;

    Abstract : The use of ground-source heat pumps for heating buildings and domestic hot water in dwellings is increasing rapidly in Sweden. The heat pump extracts heat from the ground by a U-pipe in a vertical borehole. In order to reduce the electricity demand in the system, the combination with solar collectors is introduced. 2. 7. Energy Efficiency through Thermal Energy Storage : Possibilities for the Swedish Building Stock

    Author : Johan Heier; Viktoria Martin; Chris Bales; Signhild Gehlin; Högskolan Dalarna; []
    Keywords : TEKNIK OCH TEKNOLOGIER; ENGINEERING AND TECHNOLOGY; thermal energy storage; buildings; energy efficiency; energy savings; peak load reduction; Swedish building stock; termisk energilagring; byggnader; energieffektivisering; energibesparing; toppbelastningsutjämning; Sveriges byggnadsbestånd; Värmelagring i byggnader;

    Abstract : The need for heating and cooling in buildings constitutes a considerable part of the total energy use in a country and reducing this need is of outmost importance in order to reach national and international goals for reducing energy use and emissions. One important way of reaching these goals is to increase the proportion of renewable energy used for heating and cooling of buildings. READ MORE

  3. 8. Scaling up solar photovoltaic use : A system-oriented assessment of experiences gained in deployment

    Author : Lars Strupeit; Internationella miljöinstitutet; []
    Keywords : photovoltaic; deployment; soft costs; barriers; experience curve; innovation system; business model; network analysis; knowledge;

    Abstract : The transition towards low-carbon energy systems undeniably requires a strong scale-up in the diffusion of renewable energy technologies globally. Given its theoretical and techno-economic potential, solar photovoltaics (PV) is considered an important option. READ MORE

  4. 9. Lifetime Performance Assessment of Thermal Systems : Studies on Building, Solar and Disctrict Heating Applications

    Author : Bojan Stojanovic; Christer Sjöström; Per Jostein Hovde; KTH; []
    Keywords : TEKNIK OCH TEKNOLOGIER; ENGINEERING AND TECHNOLOGY; TEKNIK OCH TEKNOLOGIER; ENGINEERING AND TECHNOLOGY; Lifetime performance; degradation; assessment; modelling; field exposure; thermal components and system; Building engineering; Byggnadsteknik; Materials science; Teknisk materialvetenskap;

    Abstract : The main questions today concerning thermal systems are their economical and environmental impacts. These entities are generally, at present, assessed on the basis of operation performances of newly installed/designed systems, during an assumed lifetime period. READ MORE

  5. 10. Load Adapted Solar Thermal Combisystems - Optical Analysis and Systems Optimization

    Author : Svante Nordlander; Högskolan Dalarna; []
    Keywords : Solar Combisystems Concentrating Collector Optimization Incidence Angle Optical Efficiency Simulation TRNSYS Stagnation;

    Abstract : In a northern European climate a typical solar combisystem for a single family house normally saves between 10 and 30 % of the auxiliary energy needed for space heating and domestic water heating. It is considered uneconomical to dimension systems for higher energy savings. Overheating problems may also occur. READ MORE
