  2. 2. Titan’s ionosphere and dust : – as seen by a space weather station

    Author : Oleg Shebanits; Jan-Erik Wahlund; Wolf Dietrich Geppert; Olle Björneholm; Erik Vigren; Cesar Bertucci; Uppsala universitet; []
    Keywords : NATURVETENSKAP; NATURAL SCIENCES; Titan; Cassini; Ionosphere; Dusty plasma; Ion-ion plasma; Langmuir probe; aerosols; tholins; Space and Plasma Physics; Rymd- och plasmafysik;

    Abstract : Titan, the largest moon of Saturn, is the only known moon with a fully developed nitrogen-rich atmosphere, its ionosphere is detectable as high as 2200 km above its surface and hosts complex organic chemistry. Titan’s atmosphere and ionosphere has striking similarities to current theories of these regions around Earth 3.5 billion years ago. READ MORE

  3. 3. Remote Sensing of Carbon Balance across Scandinavian Forests

    Author : Pontus Olofsson; Institutionen för naturgeografi och ekosystemvetenskap; []
    Keywords : NATURVETENSKAP; NATURAL SCIENCES; Forests; Natural science; Naturvetenskap; Carbon balance; Remote sensing;

    Abstract : A methodology for estimating the carbon balance across Scandinavian forests using remote sensing is presented. By estimating the gross primary production (GPP) and the ecosystem respiration (ER), and thereby, the net ecosystem exchange (NEE), using parameters that are routinely retrieved from satellite, it is possible to implement an operational model for obtaining large scale NEE. 4. 4. Outdoor heat in urban areas - Model development and applications

    Author : Nils Wallenberg; Göteborgs universitet; []
    Keywords : NATURVETENSKAP; NATURAL SCIENCES; NATURVETENSKAP; NATURAL SCIENCES; NATURVETENSKAP; NATURAL SCIENCES; Mean radiant temperature; Urban Climate; SOLWEIG; Outdoor Thermal Comfort;

    Abstract : Heat waves and high outdoor air temperature can lead to heat stress with negative implications for human health and wellbeing such as heat stroke, heat cramps, dehydration and in extreme cases death. The urban population is at higher risk of such outcomes because of the generally warmer urban climate. READ MORE
