1. Simulation methods for hydropower flows : modeling and validation experiments
Abstract : My research project aims for more accurate modeling of the flow in hydropower plants. By accurate modeling, it is possible to try different modifications on existing plants in an affordable manner. Also, entirely new designs can be tested before realization. Hydropower delivers almost 50% of Sweden's electricity demand with a production of 74 TWh. READ MORE

2. Beam-to-Beam Contact and Its Application to Micromechanical Simulation of Fiber Networks
Abstract : This doctoral thesis covers the topic of modeling the three-dimensional fiber net- works with the finite element method. It contains the part addressing the numerical aspects of the modeling, namely, the contact formulation and application of the developed methods to the fundamental questions such as the effect of randomness in fiber properties and effect of fines and hygroexpansion. 3. Micro-mechanical characterization and modeling of paper and paperboard
Abstract : Fiber networks made of cellulose fibers from trees are used as information carriers (paper) and as packaging (paperboard). This thesis investigates the mechanical performance of paper and paperboard via micro-mechanical modeling and presents new methods for the mechanical characterization of the micro scale, necessary in such models. 4. Sintering of cemented carbides : experiments and modeling
Abstract : During sintering of cemented carbides large volumetricshrinkage takes place. About half the volume of the originalgreen body is lost during this process. Due to lotal densitydifferentes within the green body undesired shape changes mayalso occur during sintering. READ MORE

5. Mathematical and Experimental Study on Filtration of Solid Inclusions from Molten Aluminium and Steel
Abstract : Aluminum and steel have been the most produced metal and alloy, respectively, for many years. Their extensive use in various industries, their fundamental role in our everyday life, and their excellent recycling characteristics are the major driving forces for development of their production towards more sustainable processes.
