  1. 1. Microcalorimetric methods for direct measurement of solubility and solvent activity

    Author : Dennis Berling; Biokemi och Strukturbiologi; []
    Keywords : NATURVETENSKAP; NATURAL SCIENCES; enthalpy of solution; solubility; solvent fugacity; solvent activity; Isothermal calorimetry; vapour pressure; Chemistry; Kemi;

    Abstract : New calorimetric methods for direct measurement of solubility and solvent activity are presented. The classical role of calorimetry for measurements of enthalpic parameters is abandoned and the technique is instead used for assessing thermodynamic quantities related to the chemical potential of a substance in a solution. 2. 2. Thermodynamic Modelling of Electrolyte Solutions with Application to the Pulp and Paper Industry

    Author : Anders Jaretun; Avdelningen för kemiteknik; []
    Keywords : TEKNIK OCH TEKNOLOGIER; ENGINEERING AND TECHNOLOGY; Potassium; Chloride; Chemical recovery; Leaching; Crystallization; Kraft pulping; Non-process elements; Solubility; Local composition; Excess properties; Osmotic coefficient; Electrolytes; Activity coefficient; Wood; pulp and paper technology; Pappers- och massateknik;

    Abstract : A thermodynamic model for electrolyte solutions has been derived for binary and multicomponent solutions up to very high molalities. The model was extensively tested on 163 binary aqueous electrolyte systems up to very high molalities, and the results show that the model represents mean ionic activity coefficients and osmotic coefficients very accurately. 3. 3. Extraction and chromatography of bioactive compounds in complex samples using supercritical CO2 technology

    Author : Said Alhamimi; Centrum för analys och syntes; []
    Keywords : Supercritical CO2; Chromatography; Extraction; Mass transfer; Solubility;

    Abstract : Bioactive compounds found in plants have been of interest to man since ancient times. These compounds have the ability to modulate the metabolic processes in our bodies, which suggests that they may promote better health. Bioactive compounds vary in their chemical structure, polarity, stability and biological activity. READ MORE

  4. 4. Methodology for high-throughput production of soluble recombinant proteins in Escherichia coli

    Author : Katrin Markland; Gen Larsson; Pär Nordlund; Jenny Ottosson; KTH; []
    Keywords : NATURVETENSKAP; NATURAL SCIENCES; Escherichia coli; high-throughput methodology; recombinant protein production; solubility; productivity; quality; cultivation technology; parallel reactors; Biochemistry; Biokemi;

    Abstract : The aim of this work was to investigate and determine central parameters that can be used to control and increase the solubility, quality and productivity of recombinant proteins. These central parameters should be applicable under the constraints of high-throughput protein production in Escherichia coli. READ MORE

  5. 5. Chemometric methods for analysis of spectroscopic data from batch process monitoring

    Author : Erik Furusjö; KTH; []
    Keywords : in situ spectroscopy; reaction monitoring; organic synthesis; solubility; crystallization; multivariate calibration; curve resolution; kinetic model; reaction rate constant; activation energy; target testing; bootstrap;

    Abstract : Understanding of a process is essential for processdevelopment, optimisation and scale-up. In situ spectroscopy isan attractive measurement technique that can increase processunderstanding, since samples need not be retrieved from theprocess mixture. READ MORE
