  1. 16. Drug Dissolution under Physiologically Relevant Conditions In Vitro and In Vivo

    Author : Eva Persson; Hans Lennernäs; Bertil Abrahamsson; Peter Langguth; Uppsala universitet; []
    Keywords : Biopharmacy; solubility; drug dissolution; food effects; poorly soluble drugs; P-gp inhibition; drug absorption; pemeability; bile acids; phospholipids; human intestinal fluid; simulated intestinal fluid; neutral lipids; solid phase extraction; HPLC; Efflux; Biofarmaci;

    Abstract : The general aim of the present project was to increase the understanding of the in vivo dissolution of poorly soluble drugs and thereby improve possibility to predict in vivo solubility from substance properties. Increased understanding of the in vivo limitations of drug solubility could potentially also generate ideas for improved formulation principles for poorly soluble compounds and more relevant in vitro dissolution test methods used in formulation development. 2. 17. Microscopic views of drug solubility

    Author : Laban Bondesson; KTH; []
    Keywords : TEKNIK OCH TEKNOLOGIER; ENGINEERING AND TECHNOLOGY; Bioengineering; Bioteknik;

    Abstract : The development of computational models for predicting drug solubility has increased drastically during the last decades. Nevertheless these models still have diffculties to estimate the aqueous solubility as accurate as desired. READ MORE

  3. 18. Extraction and chromatography of bioactive compounds in complex samples using supercritical CO2 technology

    Author : Said Alhamimi; Centrum för analys och syntes; []
    Keywords : Supercritical CO2; Chromatography; Extraction; Mass transfer; Solubility;

    Abstract : Bioactive compounds found in plants have been of interest to man since ancient times. These compounds have the ability to modulate the metabolic processes in our bodies, which suggests that they may promote better health. Bioactive compounds vary in their chemical structure, polarity, stability and biological activity. READ MORE

  4. 19. Thermodynamic modelling of black liquor-related solutions. Pitzer method for estimating activities, solubilities and boiling point rise

    Author : Marta Anna Bialik; Chalmers tekniska högskola; []
    Keywords : TEKNIK OCH TEKNOLOGIER; ENGINEERING AND TECHNOLOGY; NATURVETENSKAP; NATURAL SCIENCES; activity coefficient; black liquor; boiling point rise elevation ; osmotic coefficient; solubility; Pitzer method; sodium sulphate dicarbonate; burkeite;

    Abstract : Black liquor is considered as being one of the most important process streams as far as the design and optimization of kraft pulp mills are concerned. Many methods have been developed in order to describe and, possibly, predict its physico-chemical properties. Most of them are, however, empirical methods that are difficult to generalize. READ MORE

  5. 20. Investigations intothe crystallization of butyl paraben

    Author : Huaiyu Yang; Åke Rasmuson; Mårten Behm; KTH; []
    Keywords : TEKNIK OCH TEKNOLOGIER; ENGINEERING AND TECHNOLOGY; Butyl paraben; Solubility; Thermodynamic; Activity; Activity coefficient; Second order correlation; Liquid-liquid phase separation; Ternary phase diagram; Nucleation; Induction time; Free energy; Interfacial energy; Nuclei critical radius Cooling crystallization; Evaporation crystallization; Chemical engineering; Kemiteknik;

    Abstract : In thisproject, solubility of butyl paraben in 7 puresolvents and 5 ethanol aqueous solvents has been determined at from 1 ℃to 50 ℃. Thermodynamic properties of butyl paraben have been measured by DifferentialScanning Calorimetey. READ MORE
