  1. 1. Synthesis of aromatic bis- and tris(amino acids) and chiral dendrimers

    Author : Andreas Ritzén; Centrum för analys och syntes; []
    Keywords : NATURVETENSKAP; NATURAL SCIENCES; Organisk kemi; Organic chemistry; HWE reaction; asymmetric hydrogenation; Heck reaction; Amino acids; chiral dendrimers;

    Abstract : A number of protected aromatic bis- and tris(amino acids) have been synthesised by catalytic asymmetric hydrogenation of the corresponding didehydroamino acid derivatives. The didehydroamino acid derivatives were prepared either by a Heck coupling of a 2-amidoacrylate with an aryl dihalide, or by Horner-Wadsworth-Emmons olefination of aromatic aldehydes with phosphonylglycine reagents. 2. 2. Macrocyclic Carbohydrate/Amino Acid Hybrid Molecules - Synthesis and Evaluation as Artificial Receptors

    Author : Johan Billing; Centrum för analys och syntes; []
    Keywords : NATURVETENSKAP; NATURAL SCIENCES; 3-dipolar cycloaddition; 3-triazoles; 2; 1; molecular recognition; artificial receptors; sugar amino acids; cyclic peptides; macrocycles; Organic chemistry; Organisk kemi;

    Abstract : Methods were developed for the synthesis of three different types of macrocyclic carbohydrate/amino acid hybrid molecules. In the synthesis of the first type of macrocycles, a glucosamine derivative was oxidized at C6 and the obtained sugar amino acid was coupled to tripeptides. READ MORE

  3. 3. Impact of root and mycorrhizal exudation on soil carbon fluxes : influence of elevated CO2 and metals

    Author : Emma M. Johansson; Patrick van Hees; Bert Allard; Phil Ineson; Örebro universitet; []
    Keywords : NATURVETENSKAP; NATURAL SCIENCES; amino acids; 13C; carbon cycle; ectomycorrhiza; elevated CO2; exudation; DOC; LMWOA; metal stress; monosaccharides; oxalate; Pinus sylvestris; saprotrophic fungi; soil respiration; NATURAL SCIENCES; NATURVETENSKAP; Environmental chemistry; Miljökemi; Enviromental Science; Miljövetenskap;

    Abstract : The thesis concerns the behavior of root and ectomycorrhizal (ECM) exudates. In particular, the dynamics of soluble low molecular weight (LMW) organic compounds such as organic acids (LMWOAs), amino acids, monosaccharides, and dissolved organic carbon (DOC) have been studied. 4. 4. Responses of peatland vegetation to enhanced nitrogen

    Author : Magdalena Wiedermann; Lars Ericson; Juul Limpens; Umeå universitet; []
    Keywords : NATURVETENSKAP; NATURAL SCIENCES; Sphagnum; nitrogen; peatlands; soluble amino acids; gradient study; field experiment; Biology; Biologi;

    Abstract : Human alteration of the global nitrogen (N) cycle has had major impacts on naturally N-limited ecosystems worldwide. Peatlands, dominated by peat mosses, Sphagnum species, represent one such sensitive ecosystem. READ MORE

  5. 5. Adenovirus-host interactions : implications for tropism and therapy

    Author : Annasara Lenman; Niklas Arnberg; Lennart Svensson; Umeå universitet; []
    Keywords : MEDICIN OCH HÄLSOVETENSKAP; MEDICAL AND HEALTH SCIENCES; Adenoviridae; Amino Acids; Antiviral Agents; Epithelial Cells; Factor IX;

    Abstract : Human adenoviruses (HAdVs) are common viruses often associated withgastrointestinal, ocular and respiratory infections. They can infect a widevariety of cells, both dividing and non-dividing. HAdVs attach to and infecttarget cells through interactions with cellular receptors. READ MORE
