1. Solar Assisted Pervaporation : A process for the concentration of fruit juices in membrane pouches with solar energy
Abstract : Drying has been used for thousands of years to preserve foods. One of the first methods used was open air sun drying which exposes foods directly to solar radiation and ambient air. This method is still used today around the world but it remains underdeveloped on a small-scale for two main reasons. READ MORE

2. Study of bio-oil and bio-char production from thermal and catalytic hydrotreatment of simulated pyrolysis oil under mild conditions
Abstract : Pyrolysis oil derived from fast pyrolysis of lignocellulosic biomass is a promising alternative energy source used to produce renewable biofuels. However, the high reactivity of unsaturated oxygenated compounds in pyrolysis oil results in charring and deactivation of the catalyst under severe hydrotreatment conditions. READ MORE

3. Stormwater Ponds for Pollution Reduction
Abstract : Stormwater transports particulate-bound and soluble pollution from urban areas to receiving waters during rain events. Measurements have shown that open detention ponds, originally used for flood control, effectively reduce stormwater pollutant load and have therefore been increasingly used for stormwater treatment. 4. The effects of solid state properties on solubility and "in vitro" dissolution behaviour of suspended sparingly soluble drugs
Abstract : The solubility and dissolution behaviour of hydrophobic and hydrophilic sparingly soluble drugs is discussed in this thesis. The roles of varying particle dimensions, disordered (amorphous) solid structures and the coexistence of amorphous and crystalline phases, especially on the surfaces of particles with a crystalline core, are evaluated in this context. 5. Physicochemical properties of root fiber suspensions. A comparison between parsnip (Pastinaca sativa) and yacon (Smallanthus sonchifolius)
Abstract : The physicochemical properties of two root suspensions, parsnip (Pastinaca sativa) and yacon (Smallanthus sonchifolius), were studied and compared at different concentrations and after being subjected to processes such as homogenization and heating. The study and the evaluation of the physicochemical properties of these plant materials in the form of pastes might help to increase the interest in these two roots, and possibly encourage their further industrial use.
