  1. 1. Polyelectrolyte complexes of bottle brush copolymers : Solution and adsorption properties

    Author : Shovsky Alexander; Per M. Claesson; Tommy Nylander; KTH; []
    Keywords : NATURAL SCIENCES; NATURVETENSKAP; NATURVETENSKAP; NATURAL SCIENCES; Surface and colloid chemistry; Yt- och kolloidkemi;

    Abstract : The aim of this thesis work was to systematically investigate the physico-chemical properties of polyelectrolyte complexes (PECs) formed by bottle brush and linear polyelectrolytes in solution and at solid / liquid interfaces. Electrostatic self-assembly of oppositely charged macromolecules in aqueous solution is a versatile strategy to construction of functional nanostructures with easily controlled properties. READ MORE

  2. 2. Poly(Ethylene Oxide) Based Bottle-Brush Polymers and their Interaction with the Anionic Surfactant Sodium Dodecyl Sulphate : Solution and Interfacial Properties

    Author : Joseph Iruthayaraj; Per M. Claesson; Regine v. Klitzing; KTH; []
    Keywords : NATURAL SCIENCES; NATURVETENSKAP; NATURVETENSKAP; NATURAL SCIENCES; PEO brush polymers; brush polymers; PEO; poly ethylene oxide ; polymer-surfactant; sodium dodecyl sulphate SDS ; Ellipsomtery; PEO-SDS interactions; Surface and colloid chemistry; Yt- och kolloidkemi;

    Abstract : The aim of this thesis work is to study the physico-chemical properties of poly(ethylene oxide), PEO, based brush polymers both in solution and at solid/aqueous interfaces. The importance of studying the surface properties of brush polymers can be related to a broad spectrum of interfacial-related applications such as colloidal stability, lubrication, detergency, protein repellency to name a few. 3. 3. Unsaturated Fatty Acids in Alkane Solution : Adsorption and Tribological Properties

    Author : Sarah M. Lundgren; Per M. Claesson; Hugh Spikes; KTH; []
    Keywords : NATURAL SCIENCES; NATURVETENSKAP; Chemistry; Kemi;

    Abstract : Fatty acids and blends of fatty acids are used as friction modifiers and anti-wear additives in diesel fuels. A large part of some fatty acid blends are unsaturated fatty acids. Even though fatty acids have been thoroughly investigated, the adsorption and tribological behaviour of unsaturated fatty acids are no fully understood. READ MORE

  4. 4. Carbon Nanotube Polymer Composites: Mechanical, Electrical and Photorefractive Properties

    Author : Liliana Licea Jimenez; Chalmers University of Technology; []
    Keywords : carbon nanotubes; electrical properties; photorefractive properties.; polymer matrix nanocomposites; mechanical properties;

    Abstract : Incorporation of carbon nanotubes (CNT) into polymers is attractive due to the generally good processability of polymers and unprecedented properties of nanotubes. In this work, preparation and matrix known earlier but not employed so-far for nanocomposites are studied towards enhanced mechanical and electrical performances. READ MORE

  5. 5. Heat treatment of Al-Si-Cu-Mg casting alloys

    Author : Emma Sjölander; Salem Seifeddine; Ingvar Svensson; Sten Johansson; Högskolan i Jönköping; []

    Abstract : Environmental savings can be made by increasing the use of aluminium alloys in the automotive industry as the vehicles can be made lighter. Increasing the knowledge about the heat treatment process is one task in the direction towards this goal. The aim of this work is to investigate and model the heat treatment process for Al-Si casting alloys. READ MORE
