  1. 1. Adapting sonar systems for monitoring ocean energy technologies

    Author : Francisco Francisco; Jan Sundberg; Mats Leijon; William Megill; Uppsala universitet; []
    Keywords : ENGINEERING AND TECHNOLOGY; TEKNIK OCH TEKNOLOGIER; Ocean energy; sonar systems; monitoring technologies; marine environment; wave power; Engineering Science with specialization in Science of Electricity; Teknisk fysik med inriktning mot elektricitetslära;

    Abstract : The global energy sector is under profound reforms aiming towards renewable energy sources, clean technologies and expansion of smart grids, all with the additional aim of providing affordable and dependable electricity for everyone. A reduction of carbon dioxide emissions is a priority on the global agenda, and to achieve that, cleaner energy technologies has to be more integrated into the energy mix. READ MORE

  2. 2. On Pose Estimation in Room-Scaled Environments

    Author : Hanna E. Nyqvist; Gustaf Hendeby; Fredrk Gustafsson; Isaac Skog; Linköpings universitet; []
    Keywords : ENGINEERING AND TECHNOLOGY; TEKNIK OCH TEKNOLOGIER; NATURAL SCIENCES; NATURVETENSKAP; ENGINEERING AND TECHNOLOGY; TEKNIK OCH TEKNOLOGIER; NATURVETENSKAP; TEKNIK OCH TEKNOLOGIER; NATURAL SCIENCES; ENGINEERING AND TECHNOLOGY;

    Abstract : Pose (position and orientation) tracking in room-scaled environments is an enabling technique for many applications. Today, virtual reality (vr) and augmented reality (ar) are two examples of such applications, receiving high interest both from the public and the research community. READ MORE

  3. 3. Microsystems Technology for Underwater Vehicle Applications

    Author : Jonas Jonsson; Greger Thornell; Hugo Nguyen; Johan Köhler; Uppsala universitet; []
    Keywords : Aquatic; Submersible; Underwater; Micro; Miniaturized; Sonar; Sidescan; Topography; Laser; Diffractive; Optics; Sampler; Particle; Microorganism; Acoustic; Enriching; Conductivity; Temperature; Depth; CTD; Flow; Teknisk fysik med inriktning mot mikrosystemteknik; Engineering Science with specialization in Microsystems Technology;

    Abstract : The aim of this thesis work has been to investigate how miniaturization, such as microsystems technology, can potentially increase the scientific throughput in exploration of hard-to-reach underwater environments, such as the subglacial lakes of Antarctica, or other challenging environments, including cave systems and wrecks. A number of instruments and subsystems applicable to miniature submersibles have been developed and studied, and their potential to provide a high functionality density for size-restricted exploration platforms has been assessed. 4. 4. Design and implementation of a programmable, wideband sonar for sediment mapping

    Author : Peter Jonsson; Teknisk geologi; []
    Keywords : TEKNIK OCH TEKNOLOGIER; ENGINEERING AND TECHNOLOGY; TEKNIK OCH TEKNOLOGIER; ENGINEERING AND TECHNOLOGY; centroid; programmable sonar; sediment mapping; underwater acoustics; hydroacoustics; echosounder;

    Abstract : To be able to explore different signal types and processing techniques, apt for sediment mapping, programmable, fully digital profiling systems has been built and tested. The systema are designed to be deployed also at small water depths from small boats, without special handling equipment. READ MORE

  5. 5. Odour recognition using electronic noses in robotic and intelligent systems

    Author : Amy Loutfi; Silvia Coradeschi; Alessandro Saffiotti; Hiroshi Ishida; Örebro universitet; []
