    Author : Jonas Waldenström; Biologiska institutionen; []
    Keywords : NATURVETENSKAP; NATURAL SCIENCES; epidemiology; Campylobacter lari; population structure; Helicobacter canadensis; Ecology; Parasitology human and animal ; Animal ecology; Djurekologi; Parasitologi människa och djur ; migration; Ekologi; wild birds; Sweden; Campylobacter jejuni;

    Abstract : Campylobacter jejuni is one of the most common causes to bacterial gastroenteritis in the industrialised world. 2. 12. Evolutionary dynamics of migration and breeding in wild birds: genetic architecture, sexual conflicts and evolutionary constraints

    Author : Maja Tarka; Biologiska institutionen; []
    Keywords : NATURVETENSKAP; NATURAL SCIENCES; quantitative genetics; heritability; intralocus sexual conflict; antagonistic selection; QTL; G-matrix; wing length; arrival date; migration; geolocator; bird; Acrocephalus arundinaceus;

    Abstract : Our knowledge of the evolutionary potential of traits involved in different selective episodes, especially in natural populations, is still limited. This is true for questions such as the genetic basis and inheritance of traits, how natural and sexual selection acts on them, and how selective conflicts influence the evolutionary response to selection. 3. 13. Raising Voices : Singing repertoire and practices in Swedish schools

  4. 14. MHC polymorphism in a songbird : Fitness, mate choice, and sexual conflict

    Author : Jacob Roved; MEMEG; []
    Keywords : NATURVETENSKAP; NATURAL SCIENCES; NATURVETENSKAP; NATURAL SCIENCES; NATURVETENSKAP; NATURAL SCIENCES; Major histocompatibility complex; MHC diversity; MHC haplotypes; sexually antagonistic selection; costs of immune responses; adaptive immunity; great reed warbler; songbird;

    Abstract : Sex differences in immune responses have been observed across a wide range of animal species, with the generaltendency that males have weaker immune responses than females. These differences are at least partly caused by immune-regulating effects of sex hormones, and have been associated with an increased prevalence of autoimmune disorders in females and with a general tendency for males to be parasitized more often than females.
