  1. 1. Measurement and Control of Metal Vapours during Fluidized Bed Combustion of Biomass Fuels

    Author : Khanh-Quang Tran; [2004]
    Keywords : TEKNIK OCH TEKNOLOGIER; ENGINEERING AND TECHNOLOGY; SI detector; metal capture; sorbent; Aalkali capture; TQ impactor; GQ probe;

    Abstract : Increased combustion of biomass fuels for heat and power production has created a need to recycle nutrient elements in biomass ash to soils to make the biomass consumption sustainable. It is, however, difficult to recycle the total amount of biomass ash produced due to the high concentrations of heavy metals and their readily soluble forms in some ash fractions. READ MORE

  2. 2. Improved methods for enrichment of organic ultra trace components for analysis by gas chromatography

    University dissertation from Stockholm : Kemi

    Author : Adam Kloskowski; [2003]
    Keywords : water analysis; gas analysis; environmental analysis; sorbent trapping; organic traces; SPME; OTT;

    Abstract : This thesis describes some new methods for analysis oforganic trace components from air and water by gaschromatography. The work is particularly focused on thedevelopment of new technologies for analyte enrichment, usingsorbent-based concepts. Short lengths of open tubular columnswere examined for their potential use as denuders. READ MORE

  3. 3. Microextraction by packed sorbent of drugs and peptides in biological fluids

    University dissertation from Universitetsservice US-AB, Stockholm, Sweden

    Author : Seyed Mosayeb Daryanavard; Mohamed Abdel-Rehim; [2013]
    Keywords : NATURVETENSKAP; NATURAL SCIENCES; MEPS; Local anaesthetics drugs; Peptides; Analytical Chemistry; analytisk kemi; Analytical Pharmaceutical Chemistry; analytisk farmaceutisk kemi;

    Abstract : Sample preparation as the first step in an analytical procedure has an important role, particularly in bioanalysis, because of the complexity of biological samples (blood plasma and urine). Biological matrix such as plasma and blood contains proteins, organic and inorganic salts, acids, bases and various organic compounds with similar chemistry to the analytes of interest. READ MORE

  4. 4. Study and Modeling of the Reduction of Sulfur Dioxide, Nitrogen Oxides and Hydrogen Chloride by Dry Injection Technologies

    University dissertation from Department of Chemical Engineering, Lund University

    Author : Wuyin Wang; [1997]
    Keywords : TEKNIK OCH TEKNOLOGIER; ENGINEERING AND TECHNOLOGY; reaction kinetics; pore particle size; HCl; NOx; desulfurization; Ca-based sorbent; flue gas; Chemical technology and engineering; Kemiteknik och kemisk teknologi;

    Abstract : The potential and mechanism to reduce acid gases, such as SO2, NOx and HCl by dry Ca-based sorbents have been studied to improve the efficiencies of the process and sorbent utilization. Several natural limestones were tested for SO2 removal. Calcium conversion as high as 45% was achieved within 0.3 s at 1000°C, 1000 ppm SO2 and Ca/S=1. READ MORE

  5. 5. Industrial by-products in treatment of metals from polluted water

    University dissertation from Mälardalens högskola : Västerås

    Author : Emma Nehrenheim; Lars Wester; Björn Klöve; [2008]
    Keywords : TEKNIK OCH TEKNOLOGIER; ENGINEERING AND TECHNOLOGY; landfill leachate; water treatment; low cost sorbent; pine bark; field study; batch experiments; TECHNOLOGY Other technology Environmental engineering; TEKNIKVETENSKAP Övriga teknikvetenskaper Miljöteknik;

    Abstract : Water treatment can be carried out effectively by passive, low cost methods, as an addition or alternative to existing advanced technology. Energy and resource use can be optimized (i.e. minimized) by reusing by-products from local or regional manufacturing of timber and steel. READ MORE
