  1. 6. Study and Modeling of the Reduction of Sulfur Dioxide, Nitrogen Oxides and Hydrogen Chloride by Dry Injection Technologies

    Author : Wuyin Wang; Avdelningen för kemiteknik; []
    Keywords : TEKNIK OCH TEKNOLOGIER; ENGINEERING AND TECHNOLOGY; reaction kinetics; pore particle size; HCl; NOx; desulfurization; Ca-based sorbent; flue gas; Chemical technology and engineering; Kemiteknik och kemisk teknologi;

    Abstract : The potential and mechanism to reduce acid gases, such as SO2, NOx and HCl by dry Ca-based sorbents have been studied to improve the efficiencies of the process and sorbent utilization. Several natural limestones were tested for SO2 removal. Calcium conversion as high as 45% was achieved within 0.3 s at 1000°C, 1000 ppm SO2 and Ca/S=1. READ MORE

  2. 7. Industrial by-products in treatment of metals from polluted water

    Author : Emma Nehrenheim; Lars Wester; Björn Klöve; Mälardalens högskola; []
    Keywords : TEKNIK OCH TEKNOLOGIER; ENGINEERING AND TECHNOLOGY; landfill leachate; water treatment; low cost sorbent; pine bark; field study; batch experiments; Environmental engineering; Miljöteknik;

    Abstract : Water treatment can be carried out effectively by passive, low cost methods, as an addition or alternative to existing advanced technology. Energy and resource use can be optimized (i.e. minimized) by reusing by-products from local or regional manufacturing of timber and steel. READ MORE

  3. 8. Towards more selective sorbents for extraction of drugs and biomarkers from biological fluids using molecularly imprinted polymers

    Author : Mohammad Mahdi Moein; Mohamed Abdel-Rehim; Milton L. Lee; Stockholms universitet; []
    Keywords : NATURVETENSKAP; NATURAL SCIENCES; molecularly imprinted polymer; sol-gel; solid phase extraction; microextraction by packed sorbent; monolithic column; Analytical Chemistry; analytisk kemi;

    Abstract : Sample preparation has a critical role as a first step in analytical processes, especially in bioanalysis and environmental analysis. A good sample preparation technique should be robust and stable, regardless of the sample matrix. READ MORE

  4. 9. Development of a Low Cost Remediation Method for Heavy Metal Polluted Soil

    Author : Stalin Mkumbo; Gunno Renman; Ann-Margret Strömwall; KTH; []
    Keywords : TEKNIK OCH TEKNOLOGIER; ENGINEERING AND TECHNOLOGY; autoclaved aerated concrete; decontamination; heavy metal; hyperaccumulator plants; sorbent; zeolite;

    Abstract : High concentrations of heavy metals in the soils have potential long-term environmental and health concerns because of their persistence and accumulation tendency in the environment and along the food chain. This study was aimed at studying the feasibility of heavy metals removal from the soil using plants naturally growing in the surroundings of selected polluted sites in Tanzania and soil application of the sorbent materials zeolite and autoclaved aerated concrete (AAC). 5. 10. Design and Optimization of CO2 sorbents for Point Source Emissions and Direct Air Capture

    Author : Ribooga Chang; Ocean Cheung; Jean-Francois Boily; Uppsala universitet; []
    Keywords : TEKNIK OCH TEKNOLOGIER; ENGINEERING AND TECHNOLOGY; TEKNIK OCH TEKNOLOGIER; ENGINEERING AND TECHNOLOGY; TEKNIK OCH TEKNOLOGIER; ENGINEERING AND TECHNOLOGY; CCS; CO2 Sorbents; Direct Air Capture;

    Abstract : This thesis presents a comprehensive study on the design and optimization of CO2 sorbents, targeting two distinct applications: CO2 capture from point source emissions and Direct Air Capture (DAC). The research first introduces Na2HfO3 as a potential CO2 sorbent for point source emissions, using the molten salt effects of Na2CO3 and the thermal stability of HfO2. READ MORE
