  1. 1. Sorption Microcalorimetry: Method Development and Applications

    Author : Natalia Markova; Fysikalisk kemi; []
    Keywords : NATURVETENSKAP; NATURAL SCIENCES; lyotropic phase transition; hydrate formation; crystallization; sorption enthalpy; sorption isotherm; water vapor; isothermal heat conduction calorimetry; sorption; Physical chemistry; Fysikalisk kemi;

    Abstract : A double twin isothermal microcalorimeter has been designed and its performance has been tested experimentally. The calorimeter makes it possible to continuously and isothermally scan a solid sample in a broad range of relative vapor pressures at near-equilibrium conditions. READ MORE

  2. 2. Studies of water vapor transport and sorption in wood

    Author : Lars Wadsö; Avdelningen för Byggnadsmaterial; []
    Keywords : TEKNIK OCH TEKNOLOGIER; ENGINEERING AND TECHNOLOGY; evaluation; measurements; non-Fickian behavior; absorption; sorption method; transient; unsteady-state; wood; sorption; surface mass transfer coefficient; water vapor; error analysis;

    Abstract : This thesis deals with the evaluation of measurements of water vapor transport and sorption in wood. It mainly concerns measurements of the weight response of a sample after a step change in relative humidity. The thesis consists of an introduction and eight papers. The eight papers have the following contents: 1. READ MORE

  3. 3. Xylan sorption kinetics at industrial conditions

    Author : Espen Ribe; Chalmers tekniska högskola; []
    Keywords : TEKNIK OCH TEKNOLOGIER; ENGINEERING AND TECHNOLOGY; NATURVETENSKAP; NATURAL SCIENCES; Sorption; Yield; Sorption conditions; Kinetics; Kraft cooking; Hemicellulose; Modelling; Black liquor; Xylan;

    Abstract : The kraft process is the most utilised method for the production of wood based chemical pulp for paper applications. During a kraft cook about half of the wood material is dissoluted into the cooking liquor making the liberation of individual fibres possible. This low yield is a great disadvantage for process economy. READ MORE

  4. 4. Fundamental investigation to improve the quality of cold mix asphalt

    Author : Abdullah Khan; Nicole Kringos; Per Redelius; Amit Bhasin; KTH; []
    Keywords : TEKNIK OCH TEKNOLOGIER; ENGINEERING AND TECHNOLOGY; Bitumen; Cold Asphalt Mixtures; Minerals Aggregates; Surface Free Energy; Sorption; Contact Angle; Bitumen Emulsions; Breaking and Coalescence.; Bitumen; kallblandad asfaltmassa; mineraler aggregat; fri ytenergi; sorption; kontaktvinkel; bitumenemulsion; brytning och blandning.; Transportvetenskap; Transport Science;

    Abstract : Cold mix asphalt (CMA) emulsion technology could become an attractive option for the road industry as it offers lower startup and equipment installation costs, energy consumption and environmental impact than traditional alternatives. The adhesion between bitumen and aggregates is influenced by diverse parameters, such as changes in surface free energies of the binder and aggregates or the presence of moisture or dust on the surface of aggregates, mixing temperatures, surface textures (including open porosity), nature of the minerals present and their surface chemical composition, as well as additives in the binder phase. 5. 5. Experimental studies of sorption and transport of moisture in cement based materials with supplementary cementitious materials

    Author : Mahsa Saeidpour; Avdelningen för Byggnadsmaterial; []
    Keywords : TEKNIK OCH TEKNOLOGIER; ENGINEERING AND TECHNOLOGY; Cement; Concrete; Moisture transport; Hysteresis; Supplementary cementitious materials; Water vapor sorption; Sorption isotherms; Anomalous sorption;

    Abstract : Most deterioration processes in cement based materials are closely related to moisture sorption and moisture transport properties. Therefore, it is important to study these properties, both theoretically and practically. This work is an experimental investigation in this field. READ MORE
