16. The Choreographed Garment
Abstract : Contemporary dance and modern ballet often focus on conveying emotions through patterns of movement which may be abstract, obvious, or anywhere in between, as supported by music, sound, or spoken words that set the mood. Scenography is typically sparse or confined to the available space, leaving the dancers as the main instrument of communication. READ MORE

17. From Motion Pictures to Robotic Features : Adopting film sound design practices to foster sonic expression in social robotics through interactive sonification
Abstract : This dissertation investigates the role of sound design in social robotics, drawing inspiration from robot depictions in science-fiction films. It addresses the limitations of robots’ movements and expressive behavior by integrating principles from film sound design, seeking to improve human-robot interaction through expressive gestures and non-verbal sounds. 18. Sound propagation from sustainable ground vehicles : from aeroacoustic sources to urban noise
Abstract : Transportation is the main source of environmental noise in Europe, with an estimated 125 million people affected by excessive noise levels from road traffic, causing a burden of noise related diseases and having a substantial economic impact on society. In order to reduce exposure to high levels of traffic noise, two approaches are the topic of extensive research: preventing sound from propagating from roads and railways using for example noise barriers, and reducing the sources of noise themselves. 19. Sound Field Design for Transducer Array-Based Acoustic Levitation
Abstract : Acoustic levitation is a technique where sound waves are used to hold an object at a designated position, suspending it against other external forces and keeping it stable in the desired position. Transducer arrays are an arrangement of many loudspeaker elements, tuned such that the array creates a sound field that is too complicated for the individual elements to produce on their own. 20. Multichannel Audio Signal Processing : Room Correction and Sound Perception
Abstract : This thesis concerns and combines multichannel sound reproduction, digital room correction, audio signal processing, and human sound perception. It investigates perceived sound quality and new methods to improve timbral and spatial fidelity of loudspeaker-based multichannel sound reproduction in reverberant environments. READ MORE
