1. Low Frequency Impact Sound in Timber Buildings : Simulations and Measurements
Abstract : An increased share of construction with timber is one possible way of achieving more sustainable and energy-efficient life cycles of buildings. The main reason is that wood is a renewable material and buildings require a large amount of resources. READ MORE

2. Modeling and Control of EGR on Marine Two-Stroke Diesel Engines
Abstract : The international marine shipping industry is responsible for the transport of around 90% of the total world trade. Low-speed two-stroke diesel engines usually propel the largest trading ships. This engine type choice is mainly motivated by its high fuel efficiency and the capacity to burn cheap low-quality fuels. 3. Multichannel Audio Signal Processing : Room Correction and Sound Perception
Abstract : This thesis concerns and combines multichannel sound reproduction, digital room correction, audio signal processing, and human sound perception. It investigates perceived sound quality and new methods to improve timbral and spatial fidelity of loudspeaker-based multichannel sound reproduction in reverberant environments. READ MORE

4. Modeling ionic liquids with ePC-SAFT ─ properties and gas solubilities
Abstract : Global warming is now widely recognized as being the biggest global issue facing human beings. Mitigating CO2 emission from fossil-fueled power plants as well as from transports has become an urgent and worldwide research topic, in which CO2 separation is often needed. READ MORE

5. Sound propagation from sustainable ground vehicles : from aeroacoustic sources to urban noise
Abstract : Transportation is the main source of environmental noise in Europe, with an estimated 125 million people affected by excessive noise levels from road traffic, causing a burden of noise related diseases and having a substantial economic impact on society. In order to reduce exposure to high levels of traffic noise, two approaches are the topic of extensive research: preventing sound from propagating from roads and railways using for example noise barriers, and reducing the sources of noise themselves.
