  1. 1. Low Frequency Impact Sound in Timber Buildings : Simulations and Measurements

    Author : Jörgen Olsson; Andreas Linderholt; Leif Kari; Linnéuniversitetet; []
    Keywords : ENGINEERING AND TECHNOLOGY; TEKNIK OCH TEKNOLOGIER; ENGINEERING AND TECHNOLOGY; TEKNIK OCH TEKNOLOGIER; TEKNIK OCH TEKNOLOGIER; TEKNIK OCH TEKNOLOGIER; ENGINEERING AND TECHNOLOGY; ENGINEERING AND TECHNOLOGY; Low-frequency; impact sound; light weight floor; timber joist floor; tapping machine; multi-storey timber building; frequency response functions.; Stegljud; Byggteknik; Civil engineering; Impact sound;

    Abstract : An increased share of construction with timber is one possible way of achieving more sustainable and energy-efficient life cycles of buildings. The main reason is that wood is a renewable material and buildings require a large amount of resources. READ MORE

  2. 2. Modeling and Control of EGR on Marine Two-Stroke Diesel Engines

    Author : Xavier Llamas; Lars Eriksson; Gerasimos Theotokatos; Linköpings universitet; []
    Keywords : ENGINEERING AND TECHNOLOGY; TEKNIK OCH TEKNOLOGIER; ENGINEERING AND TECHNOLOGY; TEKNIK OCH TEKNOLOGIER; TEKNIK OCH TEKNOLOGIER; TEKNIK OCH TEKNOLOGIER; ENGINEERING AND TECHNOLOGY; ENGINEERING AND TECHNOLOGY; Modeling for control; Ship Propulsion; Dynamic Simulation; Exhaust Gas Recirculation; Mean Value Engine Model; Parameterization; Compressor; Model Extrapolation;

    Abstract : The international marine shipping industry is responsible for the transport of around 90% of the total world trade. Low-speed two-stroke diesel engines usually propel the largest trading ships. This engine type choice is mainly motivated by its high fuel efficiency and the capacity to burn cheap low-quality fuels. Abstract : Transportation is the main source of environmental noise in Europe, with an estimated 125 million people affected by excessive noise levels from road traffic, causing a burden of noise related diseases and having a substantial economic impact on society. In order to reduce exposure to high levels of traffic noise, two approaches are the topic of extensive research: preventing sound from propagating from roads and railways using for example noise barriers, and reducing the sources of noise themselves.
