1. The Bone Conduction Implant (BCI) - Preclinical Studies, Technical Design and a Clinical Evaluation
Abstract : The Bone Conduction Implant (BCI) system has been developed as an alternative to the percutaneous bone anchored hearing aid (BAHA) with the advantage that the skin is kept intact. The transducer is permanently implanted and attached to the skull via a flat surface contact to the temporal bone. READ MORE

2. Textile Sound Design
Abstract : There are a number of ways to describe the aesthetical expression of a textile, but how is it possible to express its sound affecting qualities? This thesis aims at developing conceptual and methodological tools in order to adapt sound within the textile design area. Occupational groups working with sound are to a large extent problem driven. 3. Urban Sound Planning - An attempt to bridge the gap
Abstract : Cities are constantly between transition and adaptation, where current urban development needs a consistent strategic solution capable of understanding and including the relationships between urban form, environment and urban life. Awareness of the quality of the urban environment is leading the vision on the resilience and sustainability of the built environment, highlighting the importance of a multidisciplinary urban framework. 4. Sound propagation from sustainable ground vehicles : from aeroacoustic sources to urban noise
Abstract : Transportation is the main source of environmental noise in Europe, with an estimated 125 million people affected by excessive noise levels from road traffic, causing a burden of noise related diseases and having a substantial economic impact on society. In order to reduce exposure to high levels of traffic noise, two approaches are the topic of extensive research: preventing sound from propagating from roads and railways using for example noise barriers, and reducing the sources of noise themselves. 5. Sound field separation with microphone arrays
Abstract : Sound field analysis is a fundamental tool in the design, manufacturing, testing and diagnosis of machines and transportation means, as well as the legislations that regulate noise levels in order to minimize environmental pollution. Customary solutions to the problem of sound field analysis are microphone array technologies such as near-field acoustic holography (NAH) and beamforming. READ MORE
