1. Sound Notation : The visual representation of sound for composition and analysis
Abstract : This compilation thesis details steps taken to develop and evaluate a new Sound Notation system for composition, analysis, and transcription with the capacity to describe all types of sound. Ideas from electroacoustic music analysis are combined with traditional notation to form a hybrid system. READ MORE

2. SOUnd-DRIven BIOtechnology
Abstract : Ultrasound has been vastly applied in different areas such as medical imaging and the food industry, but not much attempt has been made to investigate its influence on microorganisms and its potential to be applied in microbial biotechnology. Previous studies show the potential of acoustic waves to increase biomass yield, production of secondary metabolites and enhanced enzyme-catalyzed reactions, probably due to improved mass transfer and cell retention. 3. Textile Sound Design
Abstract : There are a number of ways to describe the aesthetical expression of a textile, but how is it possible to express its sound affecting qualities? This thesis aims at developing conceptual and methodological tools in order to adapt sound within the textile design area. Occupational groups working with sound are to a large extent problem driven. 4. Towards measuring quantum sound
Abstract : One of the most fundamental phenomena occurring in nature is the interaction between single atoms and electromagnetic fields. This is studied in quantum optics to probe the quantum nature of the system. In appended Paper I, we demonstrated that an artificial atom can couple to propagating sound, which is the acoustic analogue of quantum optics. READ MORE

5. Absorption of Sound : On the effects of field interaction on absorber performance
Abstract : Environmental noise has for decades been a well known problem, especially in urban areas. As noise requirements for vehicles are sharpened, noise reducing concepts are needed in early design stages requiring accurate simulations to support the design. READ MORE
