  1. 1. The colour of climate : A study of raised bogs in south-central Sweden

    Author : Anders Borgmark; Stefan Wastegård; Ann-Marie Robertsson; Bas van Geel; Stockholms universitet; []
    Keywords : NATURVETENSKAP; NATURAL SCIENCES; Holocene; south-central Sweden; peat humification; bog hydrology; climate variation; spectral analysis; Quaternary geology; Kvartärgeologi;

    Abstract : This thesis focuses on responses in raised bogs to changes in the effective humidity during the Holocene. Raised bogs are terrestrial deposits that can provide contiguous records of past climate changes. Information on and knowledge about past changes in climate is crucial for our understanding of natural climate variability. READ MORE

  2. 2. Deformation behaviour and chemical signatures of anorthosites: : Examples from southern West Greenland and south-central Sweden

    Author : Henrik Svahnberg; Sandra Piazolo; Anders Scherstén; Holger Stünitz; Stockholms universitet; []
    Keywords : NATURVETENSKAP; NATURAL SCIENCES; anorthosite; plagioclase; deformation; strain localisation; fluid-rock interaction; electron backscatter diffraction EBSD ; Solid earth geology and petrology; Berggrundsgeologi och petrologi; Mineralogy; Petrology and Geochemistry; mineralogi; petrologi och geokemi;

    Abstract : Plagioclase is the most abundant mineral in the lower crust and it is thus important to constrain the behaviour of plagioclase during deformation. Anorthosites, which are plagioclase-rich rocks, are common in Archaean cratons but their origin and rheological importance is still debated. READ MORE

  3. 3. In the wake of deglaciation - sedimentary signatures of ice-sheet decay and sea-level change : Studies from south-central Sweden and the western Arctic Ocean

    Author : Henrik Swärd; Matt O'Regan; Martin Jakobsson; Juha Pekka Lunkka; Stockholms universitet; []
    Keywords : NATURVETENSKAP; NATURAL SCIENCES; NATURVETENSKAP; NATURAL SCIENCES; NATURVETENSKAP; NATURAL SCIENCES; paleoenvironmental changes; last deglaciation; sedimentology; Lake Vättern; western Arctic Ocean; Mackenzie Trough; Herald Canyon; Marine Geology; maringeologi;

    Abstract : Lacustrine and marine sedimentary archives help unravel details concerning the withdrawal of large ice sheets and resulting sea-level changes during the last deglaciation (22 -11 kyr). In a series of four manuscripts, this PhD thesis investigates the sedimentological signatures from deglacial processes at three key locations in the northern hemisphere: (i) Lake Vättern (LV) in south-central Sweden, (ii) Herald Canyon (HC) in the western Chukchi Sea, and (iii) Mackenzie Trough (MT) on the westernmost edge of the Canadian Beaufort Shelf. 4. 4. Aeolian dunes of central Sweden

    Author : Martin Bernhardson; Kvartärgeologi; []
    Keywords : NATURVETENSKAP; NATURAL SCIENCES; NATURVETENSKAP; NATURAL SCIENCES; NATURVETENSKAP; NATURAL SCIENCES; NATURVETENSKAP; NATURAL SCIENCES; Aeolian deposits; Inland dune; LiDAR; Digital elevation model; GIS; Luminescence dating; Holocene; Sweden;

    Abstract : In the Swedish inland there are aeolian deposits present, ranging from scattered single dunes to dune fields of more than 10 km2. These dune fields often pass unnoticed since they presently are covered by vegetation. However, they contain a rich palaeoenvironmental archive. READ MORE

  5. 5. Isotopic studies of two early Proterozoic sulphide ores in the Bergslagen district, south-central Sweden

    Author : Kjell Billström; Stockholms universitet; []
    Keywords : NATURVETENSKAP; NATURAL SCIENCES;

    Abstract : Two sulphide ores in Beraslaqen (Svärdsio and Ammeberq), south-central Sweden, have been examined for their isotope characteristics in order to elucidate their qenetic oriqin. The obtained isotopic data point to a common volcanic-exhalative mode of formation in aqreement with recent qeochemical data. READ MORE
