  1. 21. Climate Change Effects on Rainfall and Management of Urban Flooding

    Author : Arun Rana; Avdelningen för Teknisk vattenresurslära; []
    Keywords : TEKNIK OCH TEKNOLOGIER; ENGINEERING AND TECHNOLOGY; Climate Change; Extreme Events; Intensive Rainfall; Urban Drainage; Intensity-Duration-Frequency; Statistical analysis; Flood Management;

    Abstract : Flooding in urban basins is intensifying due to increasing urbanization and climate change and variability. This thesis presents how the effects of climate change and high-intensive rainfall on the urban drainage system and management of flooding in urban areas of were studied in Mumbai, India and Southern Sweden, including Skåne and Gothenburg. 2. 22. SME contractors on the stage for energy renovations? A dramaturgical perspective on SME contractors’ roles and interactions with house owners

    Author : Veronica Carlsson; Chalmers tekniska högskola; []
    Keywords : TEKNIK OCH TEKNOLOGIER; ENGINEERING AND TECHNOLOGY; SAMHÄLLSVETENSKAP; SOCIAL SCIENCES; house owners; energy renovations; interactions; single-family houses; action research; SME contractors; business development; dramaturgical theory;

    Abstract : Energy renovations of single-family houses in Sweden are moving slowly, but if energy renovated, these houses hold great potential for decreased energy consumption. This could imply a new area of exploration regarding potential business opportunities for SME contractors. The slow movement of energy renovations creates a challenge however. READ MORE

  3. 23. Hybrid zone dynamics, assortative mating, and migratory programmes in a willow warbler migratory divide

    Author : Keith W. Larson; Susanne Åkesson; Staffan Bensch; Martin Schaefer; Biologiska institutionen; []
    Keywords : NATURVETENSKAP; NATURAL SCIENCES; NATURVETENSKAP; NATURAL SCIENCES; NATURVETENSKAP; NATURAL SCIENCES; migratory divide; phenotype; willow warbler; hybrid zone; tension zone; Phylloscopus trochilus; migratype; assortative mating; migration; biology; biologi; evolutionär genetik; evolutionary genetics; migratory divide; phenotype; willow warbler; hybrid zone; tension zone; Phylloscopus trochilus; migratype; assortative mating; migration;

    Abstract : In this thesis I will compare and contrast the two willow warbler subspecies (Phylloscopus trochilus trochilus and P. t. acredula) with differing migratory phenotypes (or "migratype") in the context of their migratory divide and hybrid zone in central Sweden. Their migratory programs differ in the direction and distance traveled during migration. READ MORE

  4. 24. Vertical Axis Wind Turbines : Tower Dynamics and Noise

    Author : Erik Möllerström; Jonny Hylander; Fredric Ottermo; Göran Sidén; Hans Bernhoff; Mats Åbom; Uppsala universitet; []
    Keywords : TEKNIK OCH TEKNOLOGIER; ENGINEERING AND TECHNOLOGY; VAWT; H-rotor; eigenfrequency; semi-guy-wired tower; noise emission; sound power level;

    Abstract : Vertical axis wind turbines (VAWTs) have with time been outrivaled by the today common and economically feasible horizontal axis wind turbines (HAWTs). However, VAWTs have several advantages such as the possibility to put the drive train at ground level, lower noise emissions and better scaling behavior which still make them interesting for research. 5. 25. Natural and Controlled Source Magnetotelluric Data Processing and Modeling

    Author : Chunling Shan; Thomas Kalscheuer; Laust Pedersen; Mehrdad Bastani; Thorkild Rasmussen; Uppsala universitet; []
    Keywords : NATURVETENSKAP; NATURAL SCIENCES; Geophysics; Airborne Electromagnetic Method; Radio Magnetotellurics; Controlled Source Magnetotellurics; Electrical Resistivity Tomography; Moving Magnetotellurics; 2D inversion; 3D inversion;

    Abstract : In this thesis, four studies using different geophysical electromagnetic methods are presented. In the first study dealing with airborne measurements, the noise response due to the rotation of the aircraft and the aircraft itself as a metallic conductive body on the Earth's electromagnetic response in very low frequency and low frequency band was investigated.
