11. Nonlinear Beam Physics
Abstract : A condensed treatment of conventional beam physics (both linear and nonlinear) is given for the non-expert; this constitutes a minimum knowhow for constructing simulations of rudimentary beamlines. The criteria for an ideal nonlinear charged-particle simulation algorithm are then presented, leading to the derivation of a symplectic, explicit, Lorentz-covariant integrator. READ MORE

12. The impression technique for assessment of tissue oedema : instrumentation, evaluation and applications
Abstract : An instrument for clinical noninvasive assessment of tissue oedema based on an impression method was developed. The method measures and evaluates the decaying force, due to translocation of tissue fluid, during mechanical compression of any site of tissue. We applied the impression method on physical models, animal models, and patients. READ MORE

13. Exploring the transcriptional space
Abstract : Transcriptomics promises biological insight into gene regulation, cell diversity, and mechanistic understanding of dysfunction. Driven by technological advancements in sequencing technologies, the field has witnessed an exponential growth in data output. Not only has the amount of raw data increased tremendously but it’s granularity as well. READ MORE

14. Single-cycle undulator light
Abstract : The past decade has witnessed a sharp rise of interest in coherent terahertz (THz) light sources for applications in condensed-matter physics. These sources are a powerful tool for studying collective excitations in solid-state systems: THz light can directly couple to low-energy excitations on the meV-scale such as the collective excitations of spins and phonons. 15. Mm-wave Radio Astronomy Instrumentation for the Onsala Space Observatory and SEST
Abstract : The thesis presents work done in developing instrumentation for mm- and submm-wave radio astronomy. The work described is in several fields. The greater part of the thesis is concerned with sensitive heterodyne receivers and in particular the cryogenically cooled mixers. In paper A the SEST telescope and its observing system are described. READ MORE
