  1. 6. Spark plasma sintering and deformation behaviour of Titanium and Titanium/TiB2Spark plasma sintering and deformation behaviour of Titanium and Titanium/TiB2 composites

    Author : Mirva Eriksson; Zhijian Shen; Guocai Chai; Stockholms universitet; []
    Keywords : materialvetenskap; Materials Science;

    Abstract : Titanium has been used as a model substance to study how it behaves in a SPS apparatus when heating rate and/or pressure were varied during the sintering and deformation process. The sintering and deformation of Ti in SPS were compared with that occurring in the conventional hot pressing (HP) in order to reveal if there are any positive effects added by the use of SPS. 2. 7. Advances in Accident Tolerant Fuel Research by Doping of Uranium Nitride

    Author : Luis Guillermo Gonzalez Fonseca; Chalmers tekniska högskola; []
    Keywords : NATURVETENSKAP; NATURAL SCIENCES; NATURVETENSKAP; NATURAL SCIENCES; TEKNIK OCH TEKNOLOGIER; ENGINEERING AND TECHNOLOGY; Uranium nitride; sintering; internal gelation; doping; ATF; microspheres; density; waterproofing.;

    Abstract : Nuclear energy is a carbon-free energy source alternative often considered less harmful to the environment than fossil fuels. However, accidents have shown that there are some safety concerns regarding nuclear energy that need to be assessed before it can be considered completely safe. READ MORE

  4. 9. Development of Encapsulated UN-UO₂ Accident Tolerant Fuel

    Author : Diogo Ribeiro Costa; Pär Olsson; Janne Wallenius; Simon Middleburgh; Magnus Limbäck; Denise Adorno Lopes; Ho Jin Ryu; KTH; []
    Keywords : NATURVETENSKAP; NATURAL SCIENCES; Accident tolerant fuel; UN-UO2 composite fuel; coating technology; powder coating; chemical vapour deposition CVD ; physical vapour deposition PVD ; UN spheres; spark plasma sintering; Kärnenergiteknik; Nuclear Engineering;

    Abstract : Accident tolerant fuels (ATFs) are designed to endure a severe accident in the reactor core longer than the standard UO2-Zr alloy systems used in light water reactors (LWRs). Composite fuels such as UN-UO2 are being considered as an ATF concept to address the lower oxidation resistance of the UN fuel from a safety perspective for use in LWRs, whilst improving the in-reactor behaviour of the UO2 fuel. 5. 10. Functionalization and processing of porous powders into hierarchically porous monoliths

    Author : Petr Vasiliev; Lennart Bergström; Yoshio Sakka; Stockholms universitet; []
    Keywords : NATURVETENSKAP; NATURAL SCIENCES; Porous; zeolite; hierarchical; monolith; nanoparticle; functionalization; amorphization; PCP; SPS; pulsed current processing; spark plasma sintering.; Chemistry; Kemi; Inorganic Chemistry; oorganisk kemi;

    Abstract : Inorganic porous materials are widely used in a number of applications, where is a need to functionalize and produce materials with a multiscale porosity. The first part of the thesis describes how a novel and facile powder processing approach, using pulsed current processing (PCP) or, as it is commonly called, spark plasma sintering (SPS), has been employed to produce mechanically stable, hierarchically porous bodies from different porous powders.
