  1. 1. Spatial Spread of Organisms : Modeling ecological and epidemiological processes

    Author : Tom Lindström; Uno Wennergren; Colleen Webb; Linköpings universitet; []
    Keywords : Spatial kernel; Spatially explicit modeling; Disease transmission; Animal movements; NATURAL SCIENCES; NATURVETENSKAP;

    Abstract : This thesis focuses on the spread of organisms in both ecological and epidemiological contexts. In most of the studies presented, displacement is modeled with a spatial kernel function, which is characterized by scale and shape. These are measured by the net squared displacement (or kernel variance) and kurtosis, respectively. READ MORE

  2. 2. Spatial Analysis and Modeling for Health Applications

    Author : Lars Skog; Yifang Ban; Matthew Smallman-Raynor; KTH; []
    Keywords : TEKNIK OCH TEKNOLOGIER; ENGINEERING AND TECHNOLOGY; Sweden; spatial analysis; spatial modeling; spatio-temporal spread; epidemiology; pandemic; walkability; health; Russian influenza; Asian influenza; A H1N1 pdm09; GWM; climate factors;

    Abstract : Despite the benefits of applying methods of geographic information science (GIScience), the use of such methods in health service planning and provision remains greatly underutilized. Spread of epidemic diseases is a constant threat to mankind and the globalization of the world increases the risk for global attacks from multi-resistant bacteria or deadly virus strains. READ MORE

  3. 3. Designing for Spatial Multi-User Interaction

    Author : Eva Eriksson; Chalmers tekniska högskola; []
    Keywords : NATURVETENSKAP; NATURAL SCIENCES; experimental design; design method; multi-user interaction; Interaction design;

    Abstract : This thesis set out to define and discuss a design programme named Spatial Multi-User Interaction as the next step in line with the changing computer form. The traditional computer interaction model has been one user with one computer, but as the ubiquity and the form of the computer changes, new needs and possibilities rise. READ MORE

  4. 4. Spatial analysis of urban housing stocks

    Author : Magnus Österbring; Chalmers tekniska högskola; []
    Keywords : TEKNIK OCH TEKNOLOGIER; ENGINEERING AND TECHNOLOGY; energy performance certificate; Building-stock modelling; GIS; renovation; refurbishment; Energy; Multi-family buildings;

    Abstract : Urban building-stocks must be transformed in order to reduce energy and resource use to achieve climate change mitigation targets. As the rate of renewal in the building-stock is low, energy efficiency measures need to be applied when renovation is being done. READ MORE

  5. 5. Geographic Indexing and Data Management for 3D-Visualisation

    Author : Patrik Ottoson; KTH; []
    Keywords : geographic visualisation; virtual reality; geographic indexing; spatial indexing; ellipsoidal quadtrees; global geographic databases; quadtrees; data fusion; data compression; wavelets; terrain models; elevation models;

    Abstract : .... READ MORE
