1. Functional understanding of space : Representing spatial knowledge using concepts grounded in an agent's purpose
Abstract : This thesis examines the role of function in representations of space by robots - that is, dealing directly and explicitly with those aspects of space and objects in space that serve some purpose for the robot. It is suggested that taking function into account helps increase the generality and robustness of solutions in an unpredictable and complex world, and the suggestion is affirmed by several instantiations of functionally conceived spatial models. 2. Computational Methods for Image-Based Spatial Transcriptomics
Abstract : Why does cancer develop, spread, grow, and lead to mortality? To answer these questions, one must study the fundamental building blocks of all living organisms — cells. Like a well-calibrated manufacturing unit, cells follow precise instructions by gene expression to initiate the synthesis of proteins, the workforces that drive all living biochemical processes. 3. Spatial transcriptome and epigenome analysis with focus on prostate cancer
Abstract : Each cancer is unique, and therefore the use of general treatments are often suboptimal. If we can understand the mechanisms of cancer development, we might be able to develop effective treatments tailored to each patient. Our bodies are complex three-dimensional structures and how things are organized correlate with proper functioning. READ MORE

4. Engendering Spatial Planning : A Gender Perspective on Municipal Climate Change Response
Abstract : While climate change mitigation has been on the agenda of spatial planning practitioners for over two decades, adaptation has only become influential in spatial planning practice in recent years. This trend is evident not only at the municipal levelbut also at the regional and national levels. READ MORE

5. Exploring Biological Systems using Spatial Transcriptomic Technologies
Abstract : The transcriptome and the cells’ spatial organization are important determinants for the functions of biological systems, such as a tumor, brain, or skin tissue. Single-cell RNA sequencing (scRNA-seq) has emerged as a powerful tool for profiling the transcriptome of individual cells. READ MORE
