  1. 6. The Spatial Context – through the lens of method development

    Author : Linda Kvastad; Joakim Lundeberg; Lars Feuk; KTH; []
    Keywords : RNA; RNA-sequencing; transcriptomics; spatial transcriptomics; single cells; pediatric brain tumors; Spatial RIN; Bioteknologi; Biotechnology;

    Abstract : In the present moment of time, we find ourselves in a period where the advancement of genomic tools is progressing at a fast pace. Of particular interest for this thesis is the study of gene activity. READ MORE

  2. 7. Spatial distribution and conservation planning of seabed biological diversity

    Author : Genoveva Gonzalez-Mirelis; Göteborgs universitet; []
    Keywords : NATURVETENSKAP; NATURAL SCIENCES; Spatial autocorrelation; ecological classifications; distribution modelling; biotopes; conservation planning; biodiversity surrogates; GIS; spatial ecology; benthos; fjord;

    Abstract : Knowledge of spatial patterns of biota has become a commodity for conservation practitioners and spatial ecologists alike. This type of information enables the identification of representative and unique biological features (at some nominal scale) which itself constitutes the application par excellence of knowledge of biodiversity distribution as it relates to the design of reserve networks and the realization of spatial planning. 3. 8. Spatial variability of geogenic contaminants in drinking water sources : Insights into hydrogeological controls, geospatial data for safe water supply and groundwater resource management

    Author : J. Ijumulana; Prosun Bhattacharya; Felix Mtalo; Steve W. Lyon; KTH; []
    Keywords : NATURVETENSKAP; NATURAL SCIENCES; Drinking water; geogenic contaminants; potentially toxic elements; fluoride; spatial analysis; spatial variability; Tanzania; Land and Water Resources Engineering; Mark- och vattenteknik;

    Abstract : The presence of geogenic contaminants in drinking water is a major health concern in many parts of the world. The interaction of groundwater with different rock types and sediments in the natural geochemical environment play an important role in controlling their mobility. READ MORE

  4. 9. Context dependency of plant – animal interactions

    Author : Malin A. E. König; Johan Ehrlén; Christer Wiklund; John Stinchcombe; Stockholms universitet; []
    Keywords : NATURVETENSKAP; NATURAL SCIENCES; NATURVETENSKAP; NATURAL SCIENCES; Anthocharis cardamines; attack intensity; Cardamine pratensis; cytotype; herbivory; larval fitness; oviposition; phenology; plant-animal interactions; plant resistance; plant tolerance; polyploidy; spatial variation; trait variation; Plant Ecology; växtekologi;

    Abstract : The strength and direction of interactions between organisms vary spatially across the landscape. Traditionally, the focus has been on how trait variation affects the interactions between species. However, differences in abiotic and biotic environmental factors may also alter the distribution, phenology and behavior of the interacting species. READ MORE

    Abstract : Luftburna partiklar (PM) är ett problem för människans hälsa, där flertalet samband mellan negativa hälsoeffekter finns mellan luftföroreningar finns, bland annat för respiratoriska sjukdomar, lungcancer och kardiovaskulära sjukdomar med flera. I länder där dubbdäck används, till exempel Sverige, Finland och Norge, och sandning av vägar och gator genomförs vintertid för att säkerställa god friktion kommer en betydande andel av partiklarna från vägslitage och nedkrossning av sand vilket bidrar till PM10.
