2. When, Where and What : The Development of Perceived Spatio-Temporal Continuity
Abstract : This thesis explored the development of infants’ ability to preserve spatio-temporal continuity of moving objects in situations where they disappeared completely (Study I & II) or partially (Study III) behind other objects (occluders). We recorded infants gaze direction with the help of two different techniques: 1) infants’ gaze shifts in Study I were measured with electro-oculogram (EOG) in combination with a motion analyzing system (Qualisys) that recorded the reflected infrared light from markers placed on the infant’s head and the moving object; 2) in Studies II and III a cornea reflection eye tracker was used (Tobii 1750) . 3. Spatio-Temporal Scale-Space Theory
Abstract : This thesis addresses two important topics in developing a systematic space-time geometric approach to real-time, low-level motion vision. The first one concerns measuring of image flow, while the second one focuses on how to find low level features. READ MORE

4. Modelling calving and sliding of Svalbard outlet glaciers : Spatio-temporal changes and interactions
Abstract : Future sea level rise associated to global warming is one of the greatest societal and environmental challenges of tomorrow. A large part of the contribution comes from glaciers and ice sheets discharging ice and meltwater into the ocean and the recent worldwide increase is worrying. READ MORE

5. Physical control of phytoplankton growth in the Baltic Sea : a multitude of spatio-temporal scales
Abstract : Shipboard systems have been used for concurrent quasi-continuous measurements ofparticle size distribution, Chi fluorescence, salt and temperature and meteorologicalparameters. A resolution from 100 m to basin-wide, supplemented with variousmeasurements at fixed stations made it possible to investigate biological- physical couplingsduring the vernal phytoplankton bloom of the two years 1985/86 and in a coastal area ofthe Baltic Sea.
