1. Learning Spatiotemporal Features in Low-Data and Fine-Grained Action Recognition with an Application to Equine Pain Behavior
Abstract : Recognition of pain in animals is important because pain compromises animal welfare and can be a manifestation of disease. This is a difficult task for veterinarians and caretakers, partly because horses, being prey animals, display subtle pain behavior, and because they cannot verbalize their pain. READ MORE

2. Physics of Aftershocks in the South Iceland Seismic Zone : Insights into the earthquake process from statistics and numerical modelling of aftershock sequences
Abstract : In seismology, an important goal is to attain a better understanding of the earthquake process. In this study of the physics of aftershock generation, I couple statistical analysis with modelling of physical processes in the postseismic period. READ MORE

3. Signal Characterization of Atrial Arrhythmias using the Surface ECG
Abstract : This doctoral thesis is comprised of five parts which deal with different signal processing problems in ECG-based characterization of atrial arrhythmias. Such characterization requires that the ventricular activity has first been cancelled in the ECG. READ MORE

4. Trajectory Planning for an Autonomous Vehicle in Multi-Vehicle Traffic Scenarios
Abstract : Tremendous industrial and academic progress and investments have been made in au-tonomous driving, but still many aspects are unknown and require further investigation, development and testing. A key part of an autonomous driving system is an efficient plan-ning algorithm with potential to reduce accidents, or even unpleasant and stressful drivingexperience. READ MORE
