21. Engine Encapsulation for Increased Fuel Efficiency of Road Vehicles
Abstract : Thermal engine encapsulation is an increasingly popular design choice, which insulates the engine from the external environment and retains heat in the engine after it is turned off. This decelerates motor cool-down and increases the probability for high initial temperature at a subsequent engine start, resulting in shorter warm-up and reduced friction between engine parts. 22. Influence of peat addition to biomass pellets on combustion characteristics in residential appliances
Abstract : The biomass pellet consumption, both in the industry and in residential appliances, has increased during the latest years and this is expected to continue. In order to handle the demand, more ash rich (>0,5 wt-%) raw materials have been introduced as energy wood and other forest based fuels. READ MORE

23. Entrained flow gasification of biomass : On atomisation, transport processes and gasification reactions
Abstract : Since the energy consumption in the world is increasing together with an increase of greenhouse gas emission it is of importance to find alternatives to fossil fuels. Biomass is one of the alternative energy sources which is both renewable and CO2 neutral. READ MORE

24. Extension of PC-SAFT to model inhomogeneous and transport properties
Abstract : CO2 separation plays an important role in greenhouse gas emission mitigation, in bio-fuel production via biomass gasification as well as in biogas upgrading. The current CO2 separation technologies are energy intensive, and new cost-effective CO2 separation technologies are needed. READ MORE

25. Energy Efficiency Versus Gains in Consumer Amenities
Abstract : This thesis, consisting of five papers, addresses the question of what share of technological development results in increased energy efficiency rather than offsetting improved consumer services in the form of gains in consumer amenities? In the first paper economic and organizational explanations are given for stagnating energy efficiency trends in the Swedish residential building sector. The results show that changes in energy prices to a large extent explain the observed stagnation. READ MORE
