16. Asymptotic analysis of solutions to elliptic and parabolic problems
Abstract : In the thesis we consider two types of problems. In Paper 1, we studysmall solutions to a time-independent nonlinear elliptic partial differential equation of Emden-Fowler type in a semi-infnite cylinder. The asymptotic behaviour of these solutions at infnity is determined. First, the equation under the Neumann boundary condition is studied. READ MORE

17. Cylindrical Waveguide Slot Antenna Analysis
Abstract : Waveguide slot antennas with longitudinal and transverse slots are analyzed using a rigorous method. The antennas are divided into regions, which are analyzed separately and matched by a moment method procedure. At the apertures between the regions, the electric fields are expanded in trigonometric basis functions. READ MORE

18. Some Contributions to Filtering, Modeling and Forecasting of Heteroscedastic Time Series
Abstract : Heteroscedasticity (or time-dependent volatility) in economic and financial time series has been recognized for decades. Still, heteroscedasticity is surprisingly often neglected by practitioners and researchers. This may lead to inefficient procedures. READ MORE

19. Tools for Autonomous Process Control
Abstract : There is an ongoing trend towards higher automation level in process control systems. The purpose of a plant is to manufacture some product at a high production rate with a consistent quality, while minimizing the use of resources in terms of energy consumption, raw material and labor. 20. Estimation and Classification of Non-Stationary Processes : Applications in Time-Frequency Analysis
Abstract : This thesis deals with estimation and classification problems of non-stationary processes in a few special cases. In paper A and paper D we make strong assumptions about the observed signal, where a specific model is assumed and the parameters of the model are estimated. READ MORE
