1. Environmental Monitoring by Multi-Spectral Lidar Techniques
Abstract : Multi-spectral lidar (light detection and ranging) techniques have been developed and employed in various environmental studies, ranging from concentration mapping of volcanic emissions to fluorescence imaging of historical monuments. In both absorption measurements of gaseous species and fluorescence imaging of stones, multiple wavelength excitation and multiple wavelength detection have been applied. READ MORE

2. CALLUM Linear Transmitter - Architecture and Circuit Analysis
Abstract : This doctoral dissertation presents a study of linear radio transmitters based on the combined analog locked loop universal modulator (CALLUM) approach. Linear architectures such as CALLUM are very attractive for power-efficient operations, since they have no fundamental limitations prohibiting a 100% efficiency for all envelope levels, without sacrificing the potential of a linear transmission. 3. Signal processing approaches on otoacoustic emissions
Abstract : The recent achievement on the measurement of otoacoustic emissions (OAEs) is based on a novel technical development of digital signal processing. OAEs measured in the external ear canal are normal by-products of the active process in hearing, which was discovered by Kemp (1978). READ MORE

4. Multi-spectral analysis of fine scale aurora
Abstract : The Aurora Borealis is the visible manifestation of the complex plasma interaction between the solar wind and the Earth's magnetosphere and ionosphere. Ground based and in situ measurements demonstrate a prevalence of dynamic fine structure within auroral displays, with spatial scales down to tens of metres and time variations occurring on a fraction of a second. 5. Spectroscopic and kinetic studies of atmospheric oxygen emissions
Abstract : The terrestrial night sky spectrum Is dominated by emission features related to oxygen photochemistry. Photodissociation of molecular oxygen, the second most abundant atmospheric constituent Is the most efficient channel for converting solar electromagnetic radiation into chemical energy. READ MORE
