  1. 1. Probabilistic Modelling of Hearing : Speech Recognition and Optimal Audiometry

    Author : Svante Stadler; Arne Leijon; Stefan Stenfelt; KTH; []
    Keywords : auditory models; probabilistic modelling; speech modelling; human speech recognition; hearing aids; cochlear implants; psychoacoustics; diagnostic methods; optimal experiments; audiometry;

    Abstract : Hearing loss afflicts as many as 10\% of our population.Fortunately, technologies designed to alleviate the effects ofhearing loss are improving rapidly, including cochlear implantsand the increasing computing power of digital hearing aids. Thisthesis focuses on theoretically sound methods for improvinghearing aid technology. READ MORE

  2. 2. On the Ionospheric Influence on GNSS Radio Occultation Signals : Modelling and Assessment

    Author : Vinícius Ludwig Barbosa; Mats Pettersson; Viet Thuy Vu; Anthony James Mannucci; Blekinge Tekniska Högskola; []
    Keywords : TEKNIK OCH TEKNOLOGIER; ENGINEERING AND TECHNOLOGY; Remote Sensing; Radio Occultation; Ionosphere; Scintillation; Wave Optics Propagator; Spectral Analysis; Plasma Bubble; Systemteknik; Systems Engineering;

    Abstract : Radio Occultation (RO) is a well-established remote sensing technique that uses Global Navigation Satellite System (GNSS) signals to sound the Earth’s atmosphere. GNSS-RO measurements provide high-resolution, vertical profiles of physical parameters from the lower atmosphere (troposphere and stratosphere), e.g. READ MORE

  3. 3. Time Spectral Methods - Towards Plasma Turbulence Modelling

    Author : Kristoffer Lindvall; Jan Scheffel; Carl Sovinec; KTH; []
    Keywords : NATURVETENSKAP; NATURAL SCIENCES; NATURVETENSKAP; NATURAL SCIENCES; Fusion; Turbulence; Micro-instabilities; Time-spectral; Navier-Stokes; MHD; Weiland model; Electrical Engineering; Elektro- och systemteknik;

    Abstract : Energy comes in two forms; potential energy and kinetic energy. Energyis stored as potential energy and released in the form of kinetic energy. This process of storage and release is the basic strategy of all energy alternatives in use today. This applies to solar, wind, fossil fuels, and the list goes on. READ MORE

  4. 4. Highly-filled biocomposites: modelling, processing, and characterization

    Author : Sajjad Pashazadehgaznagh; Chalmers tekniska högskola; []
    Keywords : TEKNIK OCH TEKNOLOGIER; ENGINEERING AND TECHNOLOGY; TEKNIK OCH TEKNOLOGIER; ENGINEERING AND TECHNOLOGY; modelling; fiber orientation; rheology.; Wood plastic composites WPCs ; extrusion; surface instability;

    Abstract : The use of polymer with natural fiber reinforcements is expected to increase significantly. This can be noted in several industrial sectors of strategic importance for Sweden, such as automotive, packaging, construction, and furniture industries. READ MORE

  5. 5. Regolith Properties of Mercury Derived from Observations and Modelling

    Author : Johan Warell; Nick Thomas; Uppsala universitet; []
    Keywords : NATURVETENSKAP; NATURAL SCIENCES; Astronomy; Mercury; Moon; imaging; photometry; spectroscopy; regolith; space weathering; light scattering; spectral modelling; Astronomi; Astronomy and astrophysics; Astronomi och astrofysik; astronomi; Astronomy;

    Abstract : The properties of Mercury's regolith have been investigated at optical and near-infrared wavelengths with high-resolution imaging, photometric, and spectroscopic observations with the Swedish Vacuum Solar Telescope and the Nordic Optical Telescope. A new global optical map at a spatial resolution of 200 km shows that the well known (from Mariner 10) and poorly known hemispheres are indistinguishable with respect to the distribution, number density, and morphological parameters of bright albedo features.
