6. Conducting Redox Polymers for Electrical Energy Storage : Backbone - Substituent Interactions in Quinone Polypyrrole Model Systems
Abstract : Organic electrical energy storage (EES) is a growing field of research that is expected to play an important role in the future, as the need for sustainable EES increases. Conducting redox polymers (CRPs), i.e. conducting polymers with incorporated redox active moieties e. READ MORE

7. Functional and Modular As=C and P=C Group Motifs
Abstract : This work focuses on the design, synthesis, characterization, and application projections of low-coordinated heavy pnictogen-containing (described by the generic letter E, hence E=C) phosphaalkenes (P=C) and arsaalkenes (As=C), with emphasis on the E=C group motifs. The work aims to understand their functional and modular character, reactivity, and potential applications by stabilizing, isolating, and characterizing these species in low-coordination environments. 8. Development of Second and Third Generation Bioelectronics
Abstract : The field of research dealing with the integration of biomolecules with electronic elements to form functional devices is called ‘‘bioelectronics’’. Bioelectronics based on mediated electron transfer (MET) between the biological element and the electrodes are designated as “second generation” while the one based on direct electron transfer (DET) is specified as “third generation”. 9. Heterogeneous electron transfer studies with ligninolytic redox enzymes and living bacteria. Applications in biosensors and biofuel cells
Abstract : The catalytic properties and the inter-domain electron transfer of cellobiose dehydrogenase (CDH) from the ascomycete fungus Myriococcum thermophilum adsorbed on graphite and thiol (SAM) modified gold electrodes were investigated using cyclic voltammetry, flow injection amperometry and UV-Vis spectroelectrochemistry. The fabrication and characterisation of a noncompartmentalised, mediator and cofactor free glucose–oxygen biofuel cell well-operating in glucose-containing buffers and human blood serum was performed. 10. Dyes and their adsorption onto nanocrystalline TiO2 electrodes : Synthesis, characterisation and applications
Abstract : The syntheses of two type of dyes (phthalocyanine and ruthenium tris-bipyridyl) are presented here. Their characterisation involves the use of cyclic voltammetry, NMR- and UV-visible spectroscopy. Once adsorbed on nanocrystalline TiO2 electrodes, their electrochemical, spectroelectrochemical and photoelectrochemical properties were investigated. READ MORE
