  1. 1. A Regio- and Stereodivergent Route to All Isomers of vic-Amino Alcohols

    Author : Berit Olofsson; KTH; []
    Keywords : amino alcohols; vinylepoxides; vinylaziridines; oxazolines; oxazolidinones; ring-opening; regioselective; diastereoselective; sphingosine; configuration; NMR spectroscopy;

    Abstract : The first part of this thesis describes a synthetic strategythat provides all eight possible isomers of a given vic-aminoalcohol starting from vinylepoxides. The value of a generalroute is evident, as several isomers are needed ininvestigations of structure-activity relationships forpharmacologically active derivatives, and for optimizing theperformance of chiral ligands containing the amino alcoholmoiety. 2. 2. Stereoselective Synthesis of Amino Alcohols : Applications to Natural Product Synthesis

    Author : Staffan Torssell; Peter Somfai; Pher G Andersson; KTH; []
    Keywords : NATURVETENSKAP; NATURAL SCIENCES; Amino alcohol; asymmetric 1.3-dipolar cycloaddition; azomethine ylide; carbenoid; carbonyl ylide; cross-metathesis; omuralide; oxazolidine; rhodium; sphingosine; stemoamide; stereoselective synthesis; total synthesis.; Organic chemistry; Organisk kemi;

    Abstract : This thesis is divided into four separate parts with amino alcohols as the common feature. The first part of the thesis describes the development of an efficient three-component approach to the synthesis of α-hydroxy-β-amino esters. READ MORE

  3. 3. Amino Aacohols : stereoselective synthesis and applications in diversity-oriented synthesis

    Author : Staffan Torssell; Peter Somfai; KTH; []
    Keywords : NATURVETENSKAP; NATURAL SCIENCES; Organic chemistry; amino alcohol; carbenoid; carbonyl ylide; cross-metathesis; diastereoselective; 1; 3-dipolar cycloaddition; sphingosine; Organisk kemi; Organic chemistry; Organisk kemi;

    Abstract : This thesis is divided into three separate parts with amino alcohols as the common feature. The first part describes the development of a novel three-component approach to the synthesis of α-hydroxy-β-amino esters. READ MORE

  4. 4. RNA in model lipid membranes - interactions in bulk and at surfaces

    Author : Agnes Michanek; Fysikalisk kemi; []
    Keywords : NATURVETENSKAP; NATURAL SCIENCES; ssRNA; RNA origami; dsDNA; selfassembly phospholipids; model membranes; monolayer; QCM-D; DSC; Neutron reflectometry; hydrophobic interaction; cationic surfactants; sphingosine; phase behavior;

    Abstract : The work presented in the thesis “RNA in model lipid membranes- interactions in bulk and at surfaces” aims to characterize the interaction between RNA and model membranes with different properties as well as to determine if ssRNA associate with model membranes in different ways. Several techniques have been used to characterize these systems, including quartz crystal microbalance with dissipation monitoring (QCM-D), Langmuir film balance in combination with neutron reflectometry and fluorescence microscopy as well as differential scanning calorimetry (DSC) and isothermal titration calorimetry (ITC). 5. 5. The significance of blood vessels in organogenesis and cadherins in exploratory behaviour

    Author : Josefina Edsbagge; Göteborgs universitet; []
    Keywords : pancreas; sphingosine-1-phosphate; endothelium; epithelial-to-mesenchymal interactions; ; Cre loxP-system; cadherins; rearing;

    Abstract : Organogenesis of epithelial organs requires interaction between epithelial andmesenchymal tissues. In pancreas development three different mesenchymal derivedstructures, the notochord, the endothelial cells and the splanchnic mesenchyme inducespecification, growth and further differentiation of the pancreatic epithelium.
