1. Microscopic Properties of Superdeformed Nuclei
Abstract : Many high spin rotational bands in superdeformed nuclei have been found in the A ~ 140-150 region, but so far no linking transitions to known normal-deformed states have been found in these nuclei. Therefore, configuration and spin assignments have to be based on indirect spectroscopic information. READ MORE

2. Structure and Dynamics in Transition Metal Perovskites — An Optical Spectroscopy Study
Abstract : Transition metal oxides with the perovskite structure exhibit a vast number of exotic properties due to the large number of competing degrees of freedom at the Fermi surface. Together with couplings between and correlations within these degrees of freedom, this class of materials is of high interest from both a practical and theoretical point of view. READ MORE

3. Comprehensive Gamma-Ray Spectroscopy of 62Zn and Studies of Nilsson Parameters in the Mass A = 60 Region
Abstract : Comprehensive experimental knowledge of the 62Zn nucleus has been obtained from the combined statistics of four different experiments. The Gammasphere Ge-detector array in conjunction with the 4pi charged-particle detector array Microball was used to detect the gamma-rays in coincidence with evaporated light charged particles. 4. Structure determination of ribosomal proteins and development of new methods in biomolecular NMR
Abstract : This thesis concerns different areas of biomolecular nuclearmagnetic resonance spectroscopy (NMR). In the first part of thethesis a new formalism for simulations of NMR pulse sequencesis introduced. The formalism is derived both from classicalmechanics and quantum mechanics and is presented forhomonuclear and heteronuclear spin systems. READ MORE

5. Isomeric yield ratios in nuclear fission
Abstract : Isomeric yield ratios (IYR), referring to the relative yield of the high spin states of a nucleus to the total yield of all observed states, is an observable of nuclear fission that has the potential to improve our understanding of the fission dynamics. Apart from that, systematic observations of IYRs can also contribute to other areas, such as the validation of fission models, modelling of the r-process in stellar nucleosynthesis, studies of the antineutrino mixing angle, the safety of present-day nuclear reactors, and the design of advanced reactor systems.
