1. Effects of the Spin-Orbit Interaction on Transport and Optical Properties of III-V Semiconductor Quantum Wells
Abstract : Effects of the intrinsic electron spin-orbit interaction on transport and optical properties of III-V semiconductor quantum wells have been studied theoretically. It is shown that due to crystal anisotropy of this interaction, the weak localization magnetoresistance in a magnetic field parallel to interfaces is very sensitive to the epitaxy growth direction and also to the orientation of the magnetic field with respect to the crystal axes. 2. Experimental Studies of Quantum Dynamics and Coherent Control in Homonuclear Alkali Diatomic Molecules
Abstract : The main theme covered in this thesis is experimentalstudies of quantum dynamics and coherent control in homonuclearalkali diatomic molecules by ultrafast laser spectroscopy iththe implementation of pump-probe techniques.A series of experiments have been performed on the Rb2molecules in a molecular beam as well as in a thermal oven. 3. Nanospintronics with Molecular Magnets - Tunneling and Spin-Electric Coupling
Abstract : This dissertation investigates theoretically electric control of the magnetic properties of molecular magnets. Two classes of magnetic molecules are considered. The first class consists of molecules that are spin frustrated. READ MORE

4. Charge transport in III-V narrow bandgap semiconductor nanowires
Abstract : This thesis describes charge transport in III-V narrow bandgap semiconductor nanowires. We are particularly interested in quantum transport in InSb, InAs and InP-InAs core-shell nanowires. According to the type of transport mechanism dominating in the devices, this thesis can be divided into four parts. READ MORE

5. Relativistic theory of laser-induced magnetization dynamics
Abstract : Ultrafast dynamical processes in magnetic systems have become the subject of intense research during the last two decades, initiated by the pioneering discovery of femtosecond laser-induced demagnetization in nickel. In this thesis, we develop theory for fast and ultrafast magnetization dynamics. READ MORE
