6. Spinal cord stimulation in neuropathy : experimental studies of biochemistry and behaviour
Abstract : Neuropathic pain, presenting with cutaneous hypersensitivity, i.e. allodynia, dysesthesia and hyperalgesia, is often difficult to manage with pharmacotherapy, but may be effectively alleviated by electric spinal cord stimulation (SCS). However, the mode of action of SCS is still poorly understood. READ MORE

7. Glial cell responses, complement and clusterin expression after lesions in central or peripheral nervous system
Abstract : The present Thesis examines the expression and role of complement and the complement regulator clusterin after central or peripheral axon injury in relation to the responses of non-neuronal cells. Following peripheral sensory nerve injury, complement was expressed in the spinal cord and brain stem in association with reactive microglia, which also appeared to be a local source of complement. 8. Programming and updaing of reaching movements
Abstract : Neuronal activity in the motor cortex (area 4) was recorded during reaching movements in cats, trained to perform target-reaching in response to a tone burst. Out of 350 task related neurones 12% generated short latency (20?110 ms) sensory responses to the cue triggering the reaching movement. READ MORE

9. Experimental spinal cord injury : methodological and neuroimmunological contributions with some historical background
Abstract : Spinal cord injury (SCI) is an incurable neurotraumatic catastrophe that afflicts mostly young individuals with resultant functional impairment of varying degrees of severity. The single pharmacologic treatment option at present is systemic methylprednisolone administration within 8 hours postinjury oftentimes accompanied by neurosurgical interventions. READ MORE
