  1. 6. Biomechanical assessment of head and neck movements in neck pain using 3D movement analysis

    Author : Helena Grip; Gertjan Ettema; Umeå universitet; []
    Keywords : movement analysis; kinematics; helical axis; neck pain; whiplash; cervical spine; pattern classification; motor control; head-eye co-ordination; head movement; biomedicinsk strålningsvetenskap; Biomedical Radiation Science;

    Abstract : Three-dimensional movement analysis was used to evaluate head and neck movement in patients with neck pain and matched controls. The aims were to further develop biomechanical models of head and neck kinematics, to investigate differences between subjects with non-specific neck pain and whiplash associated disorders (WAD), and to evaluate the potential of objective movement analysis as a decision support during diagnosis and follow-up of patients with neck pain. 2. 7. Early onset spine deformity : outcome of surgical treatment and 3D movement analysis of sitting

    Author : Girts Murans; Karolinska Institutet; Karolinska Institutet; []
    Keywords : ;

    Abstract : Early onset, non-idiopathic spine deformities are progressive and associated with increased respiratory and cardiovascular morbidity and mortality as well as neurological and functional deteriorations. If untreated, the deformity progression can continue throughout the adult life and conclude with early mortality mostly due to cardio-pulmonary reason. READ MORE

  3. 8. Biofabrication, Biomechanics and Biocompatibility of Nanocellulose-based Scaffolds for Auricular Cartilage Regeneration

    Author : Hector Martinez Avila; Chalmers tekniska högskola; []
    Keywords : TEKNIK OCH TEKNOLOGIER; ENGINEERING AND TECHNOLOGY; TEKNIK OCH TEKNOLOGIER; ENGINEERING AND TECHNOLOGY; TEKNIK OCH TEKNOLOGIER; ENGINEERING AND TECHNOLOGY; MEDICIN OCH HÄLSOVETENSKAP; MEDICAL AND HEALTH SCIENCES; TEKNIK OCH TEKNOLOGIER; ENGINEERING AND TECHNOLOGY; Nasoseptal Chondrocytes; Tissue Engineering; Auricular Cartilage; Auricular reconstruction; Bacterial Nanocellulose; Neocartilage; Nanofibrillated Cellulose; Mononuclear Cells; 3D Bioprinting;

    Abstract : In about 2:10,000 births the external part of the ear, the auricle, is severely malformed or absent. Furthermore, tumors and trauma can cause defects to the auricle. READ MORE

  4. 9. The value of artificial disc replacement in cervical radiculopathy

    Author : Martin Skeppholm; Karolinska Institutet; Karolinska Institutet; []
    Keywords : ;

    Abstract : Background; Artificial disc replacement (ADR) is a motion-preserving implant and a further development of existing surgical implants for the treatment of cervical radiculopathy. Theoretically, an artificial disc could decrease stress on adjacent segment and thereby prevent rapid progression of degenerative changes in surrounding segments. READ MORE

  5. 10. The Contribution of Vehicle, Occupant and Other Factors to the Risk of Injury as a Result of Vehicle Rollover

    Author : Stephen Ridella; Chalmers tekniska högskola; []
    Keywords : TEKNIK OCH TEKNOLOGIER; ENGINEERING AND TECHNOLOGY; Intrusion; Kinematics; Injury Causation; Roof Inversions.; Rollover; CIREN; NASS-CDS; Restraints;

    Abstract : Injuries and deaths as a result of vehicle rollover have been declining in recent years like other crash modes, but it still remains a consistently large contributor of the overall crash fatalities in the United States. Also, more new vehicles are becoming equipped with electronic stability control and are subject to new regulations that call for increased roof strength and countermeasures to prevent ejection during rollover crashes.
