1. Droplet Velocities in a Liquid Spray
Abstract : A method to look into a dense liquid spray has beenevaluated. The spray was mechanically sliced to remove theobscuring parts of it, thus gaining optical access to theinternal regions and thereby allowing for visualization ofpreviously unavailable parts of the spray. READ MORE

2. Spray and Spray Combustion Characteristics of Diesel-Ethanol Fuel Blends
Abstract : In Diesel engines, the quality of fuel atomization and fuel-air mixing inside the cylinder have important effects on the combustion process, and therefore strongly related to the fuel efficiency and emission formation. To understand how the injected fuel mixes with air and combustion processes in a Diesel engine, fundamental spray experiments can be carried out in a constant chamber under different engine-like conditions. 3. Measurement and evaluation of near-field spray kinematics for nozzles with asymmetrical inlet geometries
Abstract : In diesel engines, fuel injection parameters have a commanding effect on mixing and combustion quality. This research aims to enhance the fundamental knowledge of fuel sprays and their primary break-up. In addition, this research provides statistical data to validate simulation models and improve the prediction accuracy in mixing and combustion. READ MORE

4. Ultra-High Pressure Spray for Gasoline Direct Injection Engines
Abstract : There is an increasingly urgent need for vehicle manufacturers to reduce emissions from passenger vehicles to protect the environment and comply with increasingly stringent emissions standards such as Euro 6d, which came into force in January 2021, and Euro 7, which will probably come into force around 2025. Current emissions standards limit passenger vehicles' particulate number emissions to at most 6*10^{11} [#/km], making it necessary to find ways of reducing the engine-out particulate emissions of gasoline direct injection engines to meet this requirement. 5. Laser Sheet Imaging and Image Analysis for Combustion Research
Abstract : This Thesis presents techniques that aim at exploiting the potential of image analysis and processing in order to solve problems of data reduction, interpolation, quantification, and interpretation within the field of experimental laser imaging of combustion processes. Combustion is the most important source of energy for power generation, heating, and transportation in the world today and its strong dominance is projected to continue in the foreseeable future.
