  1. 1. Compaction- and strength properties of stabilised and unstabilised fine-grained tills

    Author : Per Lindh; Byggnadsmekanik; []
    Keywords : TEKNIK OCH TEKNOLOGIER; ENGINEERING AND TECHNOLOGY; Väg- och vattenbyggnadsteknik; Compaction; Fine-grained tills; Strength; Civil engineering; Soil stabilisation modification; hydraulic engineering; soil mechanics; offshore technology; Material technology; Materiallära; materialteknik;

    Abstract : Fine-grained soils are often regarded as problematic soils in earthworks because of their water- and frost sensitivity. Only limited amounts of fine-grained tills are used as earthwork material today. READ MORE

  2. 2. Strength of Stabilised Soil - A Laboratory Study on Clays and Organic Soils Stabilised with different Types of Binder

    Author : Helen Åhnberg; Byggnadskonstruktion; []
    Keywords : TEKNIK OCH TEKNOLOGIER; ENGINEERING AND TECHNOLOGY; Materiallära; Material technology; Hållfasthet; Geoteknik; Stabiliserad jord; materialteknik;

    Abstract : Stabilisation of soft soils by deep mixing with binders is the most frequently used method of ground improvement in Sweden today, and is increasingly being used internationally. The most common binders employed are cement and lime, but a variety of other binders may also be used for stabilisation of soils. READ MORE

  3. 3. Role of soil organic matter for immobilisation of metals : treatment of leachate from MSWI bottom ashes

    Author : Jurate Kumpiene; Luleå tekniska universitet; []
    Keywords : TEKNIK OCH TEKNOLOGIER; ENGINEERING AND TECHNOLOGY; Waste Science and Technology; Avfallsteknik;

    Abstract : In this thesis, the focus is laid on the ability of natural organic matter (OM) to serve as a metal stabilising agent. The metal contaminants investigated arise from the MSWI bottom ash leachate. Besides the high content of metals, elevated pH and salinity are characteristic for ash leachate that, in turn, can alter the functionality of OM. READ MORE

  4. 4. Application of the SASW-technique in geotechnical in-situ testing

    Author : Mats Svensson; Institutioner vid LTH; []
    Keywords : TEKNIK OCH TEKNOLOGIER; ENGINEERING AND TECHNOLOGY; teknisk geologi; Hydrogeologi; Spectral Analysis of Surface Waves; shear modulus; SASW; multichannel; inversion; Gmax; teknisk geografi; Environmental technology; pollution control; Miljöteknik; kontroll av utsläpp; geographical and geological engineering; Hydrogeology; Civil engineering; hydraulic engineering; offshore technology; soil mechanics; Väg- och vattenbyggnadsteknik;

    Abstract : With the main aim to test the applicability of the surface wave seismic technique Spectral Analysis of Surface Waves (SASW), used for determination of the shear stiffness (shear modulus - Gmax), four areas of applications have been studied. The four areas have been sites with natural geological conditions, sites where non destructive testing is necessary, pavement testing and multichannel testing. READ MORE

  5. 5. Mixing Processes for Ground Improvement by Deep Mixing

    Author : Stefan Larsson; KTH; []
    Keywords : Deep Mixing; Lime cement columns; Mixing mechanisms; Mixture quality; Field test; ANOVA; Variance reduction.;

    Abstract : The thesis is dealing with mixing processes havingapplication to ground improvement by deep mixing. The mainobjectives of the thesis is to make a contribution to knowledgeof the basic mechanisms in mixing binding agents into soil andimprove the knowledge concerning factors that influence theuniformity of stabilised soil.
