  1. 11. Numerical Simulation of Some Heat Transfer and Fluid Flow Phenomena for Gas Turbine Blades and a Transonic Turbine Stage

    Author : Fadil Mumic; Värmeöverföring; []
    Keywords : TEKNIK OCH TEKNOLOGIER; ENGINEERING AND TECHNOLOGY; fluiddynamik; plasma; Thermal engineering; applied thermodynamics; plasmas; Gaser; fluid dynamics; Gases; transonic; numerical; heat transfer coefficient; shroud surface; squealer blade tip; flat blade tip; leakage flow; Termisk teknik; termodynamik; turbulence modeling;

    Abstract : With the attempts to achieve higher thermal efficiency, turbine blades are exposed to very high temperature gases and may undergo severe thermal stress and fatigue. Thus, in order to develop optimal cooling strategies and reduce the heat transfer it is important to obtain a good understanding of both the complex flow field and the heat transfer characteristics in turbine rotor/stator hot-gas passages. 2. 12. Analysis of the Unsteady Flow Field of a Passenger Vehicle

    Author : Lennert Sterken; Chalmers tekniska högskola; []
    Keywords : TEKNIK OCH TEKNOLOGIER; ENGINEERING AND TECHNOLOGY; TEKNIK OCH TEKNOLOGIER; ENGINEERING AND TECHNOLOGY; Wind tunnel; Wake; CFD; Pressure measurements; Extensions; Yaw response; External aerodynamics; Aerodynamic forces;

    Abstract : Political legislation and consumer requirements for a sustainable society require that vehicle manufacturers focus on reduced fuel consumption and lower emissions. Areduction in the overall energy consumption can be directly linked to a decrease of the driving resistance, where the aerodynamic drag significantly contributes at velocities above 70km/h. 3. 13. Hot wire and PIV studies of transonic turbulent wall-bounded flows

    Author : Timmy Sigfrids; KTH; []
    Keywords : fluid mechanics; compressible flow; turbulence; boundary layer; hot-wire anemometry; PIV; shock wave boundary layer interaction; shape factor;

    Abstract : The compressible turbulent boundary layer developing over atwo-dimensional bump which leads to a supersonic pocket with aterminating shock wave has been studied. The measurements havebeen made with hot-wire anemometry and Particle ImageVelocimetry (PIV). READ MORE

  4. 14. Numerical investigation of the turbulent flow and heat transfer around a heated cube cooled by and impinging jet in a cross-flow

    Author : Daniel Rundström; Bahram Moshfegh; Sasa Kenjers; Linköpings universitet; []
    Keywords : TECHNOLOGY; TEKNIKVETENSKAP;

    Abstract : Impinging jets are used for many industrial applications where high heat and mass transfer rates are required. The electronic industry is one of the fastest growing industries and applications of cooling technology in this field are of considerable importance. Forced channel flow is frequently used as a cooling technique. READ MORE

  5. 15. Blood Flow variations in Large Arteries due to non-Newtonian rheology

    Author : Stevin van Wyk; Laszlo Fuchs; Staffan Lundström; KTH; []
    Keywords : TEKNIK OCH TEKNOLOGIER; ENGINEERING AND TECHNOLOGY; Blood; Rheology; Viscosity; non-Newtonian; CFD; Bifurcations; Unsteadiness; Wall Shear Stress; Atherosclerosis;

    Abstract : The blood is a complex fluid that contains, in addition to water, cells, macro-molecules and a large number of smaller molecules. The physical properties of the blood are therefore the result of non-linear interactions of its constituents, which are influenced by the local flow field conditions. READ MORE
